A Hat in Time

Why is there no 100% ending?
Seems kind of odd that there is no 100% ending.
The current ending just kind of ends without a conclusion.
You see hat kid leaving in her spaceship. Then the credits roll. After that you see hat kid sleeping. "The End" appears and you get thrown back to the main menu.
During the ending sequence you also get to choose if you want to give mustache girl a time piece with the game saying "you might not make it all the way home". But the game never does anything with it. It doesn't matter.

It just feels like there could have been so much more...

There is more. You need to go back onto your profile and complete all the acts, and get all the relics, and the other collectiables, and build those relic stands all over the hub. Your journey is far from over.

Plus get all the time rifts.

Like the yarn and the deathwish contracts? Do the time rift memories matter?

I already have all 46 time pieces.
I also have built all the relics.

Some think A hat in time is all a dream. 'course, the only things I can think of being blatant hints to that would be the Xenophobic Mafia having coton pop out of his vest, the toys, Hat Kid sleeping at the end, and the fact that non-killable characters make a squeek sound each time you hit/jump on them.

Still. A hat in Time's story doesn't seem like it put much importance into Hat Kid's destination when compared to the fiasco that surounds the fallout of Hat Kid's Time Power Mcguffins falling into the hands of a (mostly) oblivious populous(placing importance into how it's about the adventure than the destination), so I'm not sure why there needs to be a resolution on the levels of seeing hat kid reach her home.

I mean. It's not like Hat Kid was caught up in a rebellion she's not that invested in, grows to care for the rebels fighting the Mafia along the way, and has to get to her original destination to find some CEO of Time that'll help finally put a cork into the pecking Mafia.
_____

Word I forgot to use is Clifhangar. I don't think a clifhanger suits the Narrative A hat in Time is going for. 'course, I'm not the script writer. So who knows what craziness A hat in Time's story actually is.

AHIT's story is so unique because there's no actual point to the protagonist's existence. All she cares about is getting time pieces, and going home. She does that. That's the whole story. I can't think of any other game where the protagonist's actions simply keep the world as it was when they arrived.

But were was she before that?

Does the game ever state that she actually makes it back?
The "you might not make it all the way home" suggests that she might not have made it.

She did sink the "S.S. literally can't sink".
She also stared in several movies.
And she saved the Alpine area from a disease.
She saved Mafia Town from the lava.

To be fair, it probably would have sunk anyway. Those seals are dumb.

If dialogue and storybooks are anything to go by, the two birds' movies are a dime a dozen and nobody really likes them.

She may have brought the disease with her from the pre-roam act. If not, I'll give you that.

The only reason it became lava was because she ticked MG off by being "too soft" after the Mafia Boss was defeated. If not for HK, MG would still be fighting the Mafias and getting nowhere, so wouldn't ever get to the point of turning the island into lava.

But overall, she didn't make the world actually any different. Even though she stopped the disease, it just returned that region back to its normal state. The two birds are still hashing it out year after year.

The ship isn't technically a region of the world. Snatcher is still doing Snatcher things. Mafias still rule Mafia Town. The world didn't change because of Hat Kid - her actions simply made things more normal, except for the ship incident...but again, she caused the crash but saved everyone, and if the seals would have caused it instead that wouldn't have been her fault.

I would still like an ending that doesnt end on a cliffhanger like the current one...

What happens if you choose not not to give Mustache Girl a time piece at the end?

Doesn't matter. Same outcome.
