Because most people who are playing on a circa 2013 mac device realize they are using asinine hardware to run a game primarily designed for Windows using a game engine that was designed for Windows with Windows DirectX runtimes and a Windows userbase, and aren't thirteen year old children and have bought themselves a proper damn computer to play video games on.

Also, throwing these temper tantrums isn't helping anyone.

Ok, while the flaming from the past commentors wasen't needed, most games out there just woln't run properly if at all on a mac, they're not for gaming, it's irritating I know, but that's just how things work.

You could try running it in.. what was it called "wine"? The virtual windows OS thingie, no idea how that works though, but have seen it recommended on other forums.

The minimum requirements are on the store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/253230/A_Hat_in_Time/

MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: MAC OS X 10.11.6 or higher
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD Processor, 3.5 GHz processor
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Storage: 5 GB available space

Is this your macbook? https://support.apple.com/kb/sp691?locale=en_US
If so, that macbook seems to just barely meet the minimum requirements except that it only lists a dual core instead of a quad core. I don't know why that would stop it from playing at all but what I'm most worried about is that it lists intel integrated graphics. And it's a really old one by now. This game has the charm and style of a late 90's early 00's platformer but it's not lightweight. So even if it did start you'd have an unplayable mess even with the lowest graphics settings.

If you'd like to request a refund, it's pretty easy. Just follow these steps: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6695-QIKM-7966

Can't you just admit that

1) You're too stupid to read the minimum requirements for a game before buying it
2) You have inferior, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hardware that nobody needs to cater to
3) You either don't know how to request a refund or are too stupid to do it
4) You have actual brain damage

i actually have a job so... thx

You must be a RIOT at parties buddy

Wine is a thin software layer that (tries) to provide windows libraries to software on unix or unix-like OS such as Mac OS X and Linux. I've used it on Linux before but really only had good results on older games.

Here's the WINE AppDB page for A Hat in Time. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=16140
It lists the steam version as bronze, or "Works, but has some problems for normal use."

And yes that is my Macbook. As "others" here liked to point out that its crap as if i didnt know that

Wine isn't an emulator, but... well, it kind of is. I mean it isn't, but it is. You need more processing power than would normally be required in order to run a program through WINE, or any other frontend for it. You'd definitely need to meet more than the MINIMUM requirements to be able to run it through WINE.

And for all the trouble you would have to go through to get the .net framework, DirectX, and Unreal Engine in general to play nice with Wine... you may as well just dual boot Windows.

And refund request is sent.

Honest to God i apoligoze for my actions and transgressions upon this community board in the past couple of hours. Been going through some serious personal stuff lately and i needed a withdraw from life for a moment. Now looking back on it, arguing with randoms over the internet wasnt the best solution to my problems.

But het..... ya win some, ya lose some. Thank you to anyone that actually helped me. I genuninly do appreaciate it.

To be fair, i dont hate the Devs. I know they have been working really hard to make this game into a joy for everyone. And one day it will be. But sadly not for me right now. Someday though..... and i'll be rdy then.

P I E C E A N D T R A N Q U I L I T Y to you all. See ya~~

Heya there. Sorry about you going through all of this stuff. Everyone has times where they'll be in a rough spot, and oftentimes it can be hard to keep cool. Don't worry too much about coming off as rude here, as we all get frustrated. Hopefully you'll get all that worked out, and sorry that you were unable to get the game working on your mac. Best luck to you in the future! :necroheart:

There are a lot of issues with the Mac version of A Hat in Time, including: broken controller support, achievements not working, cloud saves not working, none of the DLC are available. If these are deal-breakers for you, give this game a thumbs down and ask for a refund.

i think your review of a game is automaticly deleted if you get a refund for a game?
