when are they gonna add ps4 controller support
I want to play htis game but right now i can only use a ps4 controller. Now that the new dlc is out i wanted to try it out but cant due to the fact taht even tho its claimed that all controllers work ps4 ones dont. Im not the only one with this problem and I have no idea why this isnt fixed. Also for those who might say for me to use keyboard, I dont like using the keyboard controlls and its a 3d platformer which means controllers allow for much better movement and control.

That's what big picture mode controller support is for. I've played the entire game with a DS4.

Just enable PS4 controller support in Steam settings. It'll still show Xbox buttons but it should work with no issues.

Do you have the official Dualshock 4 drivers? Steam can't see the controller until the drivers are installed. They can be installed through the Playstation Now (and maybe Remote Play, I'm not certain) app.

Steam already comes with the drivers nowadays. I never had to install anything (Although I do use it wireless, no idea how V2 controllers and having it connected via USB affects this).

Chiming in to say that the game works fine with Dualshock 4, aside from one issue that was easy to solve. The issue was with the triggers on the back (the ones you use for hat abilities and dashing) where tapping the trigger would cause Hat Kid to dash but then cancel it immediately after. I fixed it by disabling Trigger Analog Output; to do that right-click the game in your library and select "Edit Steam Controller configuration".

You can set up a Ps4 controller with Steam Big Picture. It works for me on this game and everything else i've tried on Steam.

Oh damn! So it's a common issue then! I had this problem since FOREVER! Thank you for the solution (I kinda forgot to look for a solution to begin with).

How do you do this? I figured I was just pressing the trigger poorly to make Hat Kid end the dash as soon as it started.

I took a few screenshots on how to do it:

I played the game with a Logitech F710 before switching to a Dualshock 4, and with the Logitech controller the triggers work on a toggle basis: tap once to start the dash, tap a second time to stop it. I don't think the PS4 version had this problem either despite using the same controller.

EDIT:
I went ahead and made this Steam guide. It should hopefully bring more attention to the issue.

Thanks.

I see where I went wrong. I was looking in the Big Picture settings in general. Didn't realise this is something you change game by game.

Once i deactivated PS Controlelr support in the General Controller configuration within steam, i got DS 4 prompts and everything.

I have the DS 4 V2
