A Hat in Time

Ship Shape makes me want to die
Thats all. AHIT went from being calm relaxing platformer to anal evacuation inducer in one single mission.

That's what happens when you combine high difficulty, an unreasonable timer, obnoxious accelerating accordion music, and sadistic RNG.

Gears for Breakfast ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

That about sums up the dlc. Amazing how badly they messed up considering how incredible the vanilla game was.
I'm now no longer optimistic about the second chapter dlc they're going to release...

I used the scooter almost constantly. It helps to know that the yellow icons are where to deliver items to & all other icons are item locations. Also, the timers for all of the items fill up as opposed to draining.

Also, the picture for each icon indicates which room it's in, not what kind of item it is. The most important thing is getting items frequently enough to keep draining the captain's anger meter. You can let the time run out on some items as long as you keep that up.

I beat it on my second try by focusing on rooms that I was pretty sure I knew how to get to & ignoring things that were already about to run out of time but it wasn't fun.

yeah i used the scooter and know about the difference between icons but still get lost in the level trying to find the most effecient way around the ship. followed the arrows and that helped until they ♥♥♥♥ the bed and just didnt know where to tell me to go. Most i managed to get was 17/20 why such a drastic spike in dificulty for only the second act
what i get out of it is that act 1 was so relaxing and allowed you to explore the whole ship, but really they were wanting you to get familiar with the ship like the back of your hand so act 2 would be easier to get through. haha i am still not through it after 4 tries, it is definitely the roughest patch in the game ive hit thus far. First time i did the great parade in chapter 2 i struggled but this makes that seem like a joke.

Overall tho, i think ship shape is very beatable (i know i said i havent beat it yet) but most of us who are this far in the game have the much under-used and overpowered time stop hat. Make good use of it on this act is what im trying to do

People had trouble with this? I got it on my second try. The arrows are there to help you learn paths, but relying on them will only bring you trouble, as they don't optimize for the thing you should be doing at the time.

You can carry multiple things at a time; the problem with this is that you lose more control of Hat Kid if you're carrying 3 or more items. 3 items is reasonable to deal with as the effect is minor, but more items carries more of a risk of you bumping into stuff and thus losing time.

Whenever balcony stuff appears, try and prioritize that. The best way to handle the balcony stuff is to access it from the pool up top; you don't need to do that obnoxious platforming that way.

Overall, the mission is about reducing loss and maximizing gains. There's a separate timer for things you need to pick up and where you need to deliver them to, so if they're full and you know it's going to lead to the opposite end of the ship, you can hold off on picking it up. Do you want to run all the way across the ship to get that one thing, or pick up a few more things so you can reduce multiple trips?

Some tips: The Kitchen is pretty much a great hub, as it can lead to either side of the ship (the right side via the door inside the kitchen, the left side via the hallway through the double doors), the main lobby (again, the double doors), the laundry room, the engine room (laundry room is obvious, and there's a hole in there that leads to the engine room), the dining area (obvious), the captain's room and the casino (top of the dining room, going past the captain's room leads to the casino) and the pool (the elevator in the dining area). It's a good idea to keep a mental note of which places connect where so you can make it around the ship fast. Also, it's a good idea to focus on bundles of tasks instead of going after lone ones; the lone ones are best done on your way to other tasks, and it's ultimately more about the quantity of the tasks you do.

I think instead of reducing the amount you have to do, they could have instead nerfed this mission by adding an easy way to the top of the balcony room without having to do that tedious platform (made even more tedious with my crappy touchpad not recognizing clicks and thus missing the hookshot point)
People had trouble with this at launch, look at the post date you two. Before recent nerfs, he got angrier much faster and required more items to clear the act

I played this mission relatively early, back when it took 20 items to clear.

The advice is still good for those attempting Cruisin' for a Bruisin'. I'd add that for those going for the 70 stamp, once you get to the 50-60+ range, there are too many tasks for you to possibly all complete. Just focus on the ones that can be completed quickly. The top deck, the dining room, and the laundry room are the best for this. Also the flower picking at the hotel bottom. Time Stop Hat is also essential. Make sure to time it so you avoid using it before picking something up, which immediately cancels the effect.

man, all these people saying on how hard it was when I never had a problem with it.
the only thing find it anoying was that it was only 3 acts, sure I gotten it for free but three? I guess the death wish challenge is the main thing about this dlc

Ship shape? You mean Overcooked! 2: Hat dlc?

I don't get how people can say "it's not that tough"
I'm trying to get the achievement but RNG demands I run from the deck of the ship to the bottom and vice versa.

nice necro. it is very likely that you are just unaware of a path that will lead to where you want to go fast.

I mean you can go from the pool to the dining area by taking the elevator, thats from the top to bottom really quickly or you could exit out to side of the ship from the pool area and enter the engine room and go directly to the laundry room from there thats also the top to the bottom. both paths take very little time. the deathwish version of this mission is a problem for doing 40 without missing any, but the regular version is not an issue anymore(never played it when it was apparently harder)
