A Hat in Time
A hat in time thinks ps4 controller is xbox 360 controller
This is a problem I've had since I got the game, I plug in my ps4 controller before I start the game and the game thinks it's a xbox 360 controller, I don't know how to fix this and it's really irritating. If anyone can help me out then thanks. (Third party stuff like ds4 will not be accepted.)

Steam automatically emulates a 360 pad, as very few windows programs recognize the DS4.

this, as a Playstation fanboi myself, i just bit the bullet and switched to an xbox controller for PC as most games recognize it by default, really the only way to go.

Open Big Picture Mode, go to settings, and then controller settings, and make sure PS4 Configuration Support is disabled. That worked for me.

...What?
There's no reason to switch to a xbox controller, Steam's controller configurator is amazing and you can just use DS4Windows otherwise.
I've been using a Dualshock on PC the last 2 years.

What about xbox configuration support, does that need to be disabled too, or do I keep it enabled? Because I already have the PS4 configuration support disabled.

This worked for me too. What a weird thing- having to DISABLE PS4 CONFIG SUPPORT to get a DS4 to work. It's counterintuitive. Thanks for the solution!

you only have to disable ps4 compatibility if you use the DS4 Windows app. Steam automatically reconizes ps4 controllers if ps4 compatibility is enabled.
