It's kind of hard to count her as a favorite female character of mine in comparison to other games I've played, though. She may be adorable, but when you've got badasses like Samus, Undyne, Lucina, and Zelda in other games it's hard for Hat Kid to compete.
"female"
At the moment you need to point out and do the difference because they are femelle there is a problem isn't it ?
+ The 2 characters doesn't have any dialogs, you know absolutly nothing about them, so you only go for the looks to categorize them into, wich well is kinda weird
Actions speak louder than words. It's pretty easy to get a grasp on their personalities through their body language and well, we can even get dialogue from them in the form of the diary entries.
Besides, it's perfectly fine to go by looks because cute things are cute . Going by looks isn't inherintly sexual
We don't only have looks. They do have dialogue. You can read Hat Kid's diary in-game, and then there's the tons of little quotes she spouts during gameplay, like when she throws a Brewing Hat bomb or when you pick up and burn the paintings in Subcon.
And I just want to point out this thread was normal before you came in. You're the one who tried to make things weird by acting like there's something wrong with liking a cute character.
I just find it weird to have the needs to point out that the character have to be a female, especially when the characters in question are kids
The diary isn't really self explanatory for the "mind" description, anyone could write a text and makes it looks like any personnalities, you could be the most wrong character in a text and the best one in another
So my question is most likely, whats makes you choose this character over your third or fourth best character, since you don't really have any information on that character. It's my opinion after all, but my point of view is the most important on a character is that it follow their personnalities. And especially for bow kid who's an absolute mystery in the story, we have 0 clue about how she is as there as a character.
I've probably know about thousands of female characters if I had to classify them They wouldn't get in the top 1000, there is absolutly nothing to say about them unless "they are cute", you said it yourself,
Take it like you want tho, it's just feels weird to say "this is my favorite female character of all time" when there is absolutly nothing to say in the end unless "she cute"
You're presenting all those very old characters, since them gaming as evolved for 15 years. They all followed the same scheme at that time such as : There is a bad guy, you are the good guy, you need to do xxx to reach the bad guy, you kill the bad guy, (you save the world) end.
Now there's more money invested in making games, better engines, more talented people, etc, you should really try to play some new games and not be stuck with the franchise you've played. Try some FFXV, the first cutscene already teach you more on the characters (If we take out Sonic, since they've make lot of TV stuff lots of sequel, lot of bad games, and are working on a film (wich everyone know will be a failure) and yet, we could perfectly describe Sonic attitude) more than all the game you've presented, the bound with those characters will be instantly different.
After all taste isn't something that can be discussed but again, it just feels weird that instantly the main character and her side character instantly beat all the female character you've ever played especially that Bow Kid have absolutly nothing she is just a reskin of the main character so you can play in coop, it's like saying mario and luigi are the 2 best male character you've ever played, it just feel weird and lacks of character knowledge. I'd believe that you didn't played enough recent games, or that you're stuck in your nostalgia. You should really try to play a game were they treat their character as "humanly possible" (they don't need to be human) but with dialogs, expressions, a back story, a character that could makes you relate to it etc..
I will quote again the first comment,
All those characters have a solid story behind, you know who they are, what do they want, how they will react, and with all the sequels, we learn more and more about those characters and we keep playing those titles to know more about the characters that we like it create a real bound behind it.
While playing hat in time, the only thing I've noticed is how much egoist hat kid is. Let's take some exemple, the first time piece destroyed the mafia fountain, and she cames in, ask for the time piece, beat up the guy because he refused to instantly giving it to her. she refuse to help mustache girl to stop the mafia, she spread illness in the peak while taking her TP back, and well, yeah, she cures it by taking the last one, but the only thing that mattered was that she collect back her time piece. and the most hatefull thing she has done was crashing the boat from the seal dlc only to get her time piece back. IMO in a moral POV she isn't likeable at all
So yeah, if you're gooing only for the looks she is a small human with brown hair and blue eyes this is something really common (maybe not for beeing small).
Well, at this time games had no stories behind them, (most of game were thrash, let's be honest, you would pay a 50$ tag for those 20 seconds of gameplay atari games) so yeah, when the games evolved it made a good point where you could give a name to your character and refer to their graphic style.
In the end it's maybe just me beeing an idiot, but I'd believe a character that you can completly describe, on what it lived, their choices while playing, what they like too eat, what kind of people they like, what they do like to do etc .. makes a character way more interesting and favoritable to people that take the time to know all of those little details, it proove they are really involved into their favorite character, and sadly here we can't really tell such things about hat kit/bow kid unless "they are cute"
