Is Mustache Girl trans?

I know that the recent dlc has gotten a lot of people talking and its honestly gotten me to think about some aspects of the game a bit more. Mustache girl has always seemed a interesting to me because normally girls don't have mustaches. Was this the developer trying to send some sort of message early on in the games development?

Mustache Girl is very redeemable. She wanted to end the mafia take over of her own home. Even if she went too far with it. She had a cause with good end goal. To liberate the occupied lands.

Moustache Girl is just a tomboy / spirited punk type of girl. If anything I'd suspect Hat Kid could be transgender because she's quite gender-neutral where normal kids are fairly concentrated in their gender based interests and behaviours. Which leaves room for the possibility that it's because Hat Kid isn't binary.

It's the first thing I thought of when I saw the flag, but there's nothing to really support it so if it was true it would be an unspoken lore thing that the developers would know.

that's how I took it as well. probably old enough to be most people on Steams parent I'd imagine but its funny how some people just instantly jump into trans references when they see something like this as until I even read this thread it never crossed my mind.

Initially, as the game deals in Time, I thought moustache girl was hat kid from a parallel universe and that was how the story was going to play out and I thought the moustache might have been part of that, a little disguise, right upto the end I was still holding onto that theory.

Okay fun fact, while noclipping I found out that one of the boats on the well boat level has a trans flag on it, but its so far away and with so much bloom that you would never see it in normal gameplay
