A Hat in Time
Is nothing in online party synced? What's the point?
Am i missing something? Just bought the DLC to play co-op with my friend, and it seems like all you can do is see each other, but both of your progress is entirely separate. Mobs and bosses aren't even synced

I guess I was under the impression that we'd be able to play the game as if we were playing local co-op, but nothing at all being synced seems a bit ridiculous to me

Imagine what trying to sync a game between 50 people would be like.

yeah thats pretty disappointing to hear, like i get not syncing it for the public group with tons of people, but the co-op between friends should logically be synced.

But no one asked for 50 player multiplayer, originally; people wanted online multiplayer. What good is online multiplayer if you can't PLAY together?

Yeah, it was very poorly communicated. FAQ and the Community Manager still don't inform us of what is disabled between players, and what Online Party is meant to be for isn't clearly outlined.

From what I can gather, it's supposed to be to just mess around, show off your skins (though there's a large amount of skins that don't actually show up between players, so you either get default hat kid or hat kid with different colors and no model change), and compete to see who can get the most Pons and finish the level. It's a bizarre choice considering that Local Coop not only exists, but allows both players to fight the same bosses, enemies, and complete objectives together.

It's still a good DLC, and I suppose online semi-coop is better than no online coop at all, but man if I'm not disappointed. Hopefully GFB can make Online Coop available in the near future, provided this isn't the last major update for the game.

its FUN and you should be in a call with your friends while playing. it's great to motivate your friend to keep exploring

If it's fun for you, that's great, but keep in mind that people like myself were hoping for real online coop to experience the levels and bosses and plot _together_.

people wanted to play WITH friends, not "near" friends, they wanted multiplayer super mario 64 where you could bump eachother of help people out, they didn't want dark souls ghost you see for 3 seconds and can do nothing with

I think they should have been a bit more transparent about what the online multiplayer actually is.

In my opinion, the statement:

(Note: Some game features are deliberately not synced in Online Party, to avoid griefing)

Is misleading. Saying "some" game features are not synced is an understatement.

It would be great if in the future they added an online version of the 2 player local co-op.

Either way, we refunded the game. Thank you for your responses guys.
