how do i leave messages behind for other players in custom maps?

i'm referring to the little yellow circles that show up in levels, if you run up to them they're stickers or one of the default messages left behind by other players, usually a hint.
do i leave my own behind just by activating the message/sticker i want in the emote wheel, or is there more i have to do? is there a limit to how many can be left behind??

I think the creators do that. Something in the mod editor probably. But I’m pretty sure you can’t leave them yourself!

As far as I know you just use an emote and then it shows up for other players. You yourself can't see it, but others can.
