Using a gamepad negatively impacts the framerate [not a joke, seriously]
I know this sounds rather odd, but using a gamepad (an xbox one controller, connected via bluetooth), makes the game runs significantly worse compared to using a mouse and keyboard. I can get a stable 144 FPS almost anywhere as long as I am using the keyboard, but once I switch to a gamepad it drops, somtimes even below 100. Sounds werid, doesn't it? I wish I was making this up, but it's true.

I love the game, but please, for the love of god, fix this!

Specs:
Ryzen 1800X
Windows 10 LTSB
Nvidia Geforce 1080 Ti

Now that we're arguing, I'm technically not in violation of any rules. ;)

@Paco
Thanks, will do that.

Threatening to spam-bump a thread sounds pretty violation-y to me.

I just wanted to point out that it doesn't seem impossible that this can happen. Iron Brigade has a similar issue with all Xbox controllers. It is a bit different, but it is also very strange. The longer you have the controller plugged in, the greater the impact on my entire computer. After about 40 minutes in a level with a friend, it gets bad enough that it will lower my frame rate and cause the client(s) to drop out. I solve the issue by unplugging the controller every 10 minutes. I forgot what the performance tab on the Task Manager said about it, cuz it was a long time ago, but it was bad. My entire computer would slow down to a crawl.

TLDR: Performance issues with controllers are possible, so don't be too surprised.

Happens on the GoG version too apparently

Wow this sounds weird. Seeing as you got a xbone controller does it lag via a cabled connection as well. Haven't had any drops using a ds4 controller with a cable so could be something with X Input devices

Edit: actually only used ds4 when playing, will compare the fps when using both

No Major drops for me, 165 fps jumping between KB+M & DS4

Hey! This is really bizarre. I'm guessing the game is lagging because its taking time to wait for the bluetooth query to respond. Does plugging it in via wire help?

just wanted to chime in and say i had the same issue on launch day and still had it up until i refunded the game a few days ago. tried wired and wireless xbox 360 and had the same issue. i'll be buying the game again when this is fixed!

Thanks for responding so quickly! I just tried out my old wired Xbox 360 controller and oh my, you are right. The performance penalty is definitely somehow caused by the Bluetooth connection and I notice no framerate difference between the 360 controller and my keyboard. I turned vsync off, and it looks like that my system is just barely able to push 144 on this game. Sorry for bothering you about this, seems like I was in the wrong here. Still, shoudln't the Bluetooth logic be on a dedicated IC? Why does this cost CPU time at all? Guess I'll have to ask Microsoft about that, lol. Maybe I'll overclock just to play this game, haha.

oh man, cant play this game with less than 100 FPS! 0/10

seriously wtf is peoples problems with having such high framerate? who cares as long as its at least 30 and stable.
i play overwatch at 60 and if it drops i dont notice it even with my FPS counter proving that it does

on another note that is a very weird bug

Because I have a 144hz monitor. Also 30? Please. 30 is never okay unless it's a 2D top down RPG. Once you have a rotating 3D camera, 60 is bare minimum.

Experiencing severe stuttering using my Xbox controller with a Bluetooth connection? This hasn't been fixed..?
Cyberpunk Jul 5, 2018 @ 1:33pm
Nope. Guess it's a ploy by Microsoft to get you to buy their wireless dongle.

Once you go high refresh rate, your standards increase. I have a 165hz 1440p display and i can tolerate down to 60 but anything below that is trash now.

Also, I had this problem too with the bluetooth connection. As well as with other games. I ended up caving and buying the stupid Microsoft adapter. Works like a charm now, but whatever >_>

I had the same problem with my 8BitDo SF30 Pro controller, so it's probably not hardware-dependent. Maybe drivers?

I'm a 60Hz pleb so when my framerate dropped below 20FPS and the audio started skipping to match, the game became unplayable. Plugged in the controller with a USB cable and it instantly solved the problem. Such a strange bug.
