A Hat in Time

How do you do the marching-band timerift?
I'm stuck in a certain timerift. The one in question is a blue rift in penguin town, and there's a marching band following you constantly, although they're not the problem

There's a part near the start where you press one switch (to turn a wire green) and then follow another wire up, down a ramp to the next switch, then hookshot back.

This slides a bridge through the platform from one side to another, and it seems like it should let you jump over to the next area. But its just too far

I've tried the typical carefully timed doublejump + air slide, and it still doesn't get far enough. i cannot bridge that gap no matter what i do.
Is there some secret to this? Do i need a specific hat i might not have?

i cant tell witch part your talking about based on text alone

there was one part that i got stuck on with a chainlink gate in the way that you have to jump under

if his talking about that chain link fence it is possible to jump right over it. go up where the switch is and do a double jump than glide jump over it.

Double Jump + Belly Flop

Use the no bonk bage to ensure the belly flop doesn't smack you into the wall.

And definitely do that one before the hookshot one. it's a lot more iffy.

Thank you, this was it! That badge did the trick.

Something i didn't know til now, if you hit a wall in mid air with that badge, you start running up it like a normal jump.
I had assumed i'd slide down it instead

Also, the sprint hat is amazing in that stage, since it lets you climb significantly farther up walls, saving a lot of time on the spots climbing between parallel walls.

That chain link bit is awful. I eventually was able to get beneath it and over by sprinting off the edge, aerial dash when I fell just far enough to be below the fence, and then a lucky scramble up the block (no-bonk is a must). I bet it's a lot easier going over the top - going under the bottom kind of stunk as the timing is pretty precise.
