Did the devs ever respond to the jontron controversy?

It kind of disturbs me that a racist is just freewheeling into this game. The devs maybe had no knowledge of it? Or are they really backing this guy's racist thoughts?

FFS people, Jontron is passionate about video games. He's a grown man that makes innocent stupid silly videos about them. He obviously loves this genre and wants to support and encourage its propagation. It would explain why his voice would find its way into 2 games of the same design. There's nothing sinister about it. Its obviously not being used to push controversial hard-line political views. You would have to be a blithering idiot to honestly believe otherwise.

I can't say the same about Steven Bonnell (destiny) who absolutely is a degenerate fool and professional sophist. That guy will never make any meaningul positive contribution to anything.

They don't have to because even if JonTron was a racist and everything these people say he is, nothing he says in the game is racist. And the only people complaining and kicking up a fuss is a certain cesspool of a forum that's home to terrible people. Literally no normal person cares about what they say and that's evident in the Steam user reviews.
