Stuttering after a few matches
I've looked at other topics with "stuttering" in the topic but they don't seem to have anything to help with the issue I'm having.

After a few matches of Rocket League the game starts to stutter whenever my car starts moving and the framerate graph looks like this https://i.imgur.com/c4SrUdm.png

What can I do to avoid this?

could you please provide me with a list of your pc hardware components and every troubleshooting step you already tried?

it would be useful to exclude certain factors

Sure, what would be the easiest way to grab a list for you? I know off the top of my head that I'm running a 3060 RTX, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with 32GB of RAM.

For troubleshooting I've tried Fullscreen/Windowed/Borderless, VSync On/Off and the various graphics options in-game at different levels. One thing I have noticed is that the overlay that is shown with F10 in the screenshot reports framerates that seem incorrect? I have a 144hz monitor and even with V-Sync on (in-game) the frame counter floats higher than that for some reason like V-Sync is not applying correctly.

thats enough, it seems your cpu does not have integrated graphics, and so the game is running using the gpu.

are u on a desktop pc or laptop?
did u try to update the graphics drivers using the geforce experience program?
are u using other third party programs that could conflict with the game? (for example: bakkesmod, gif your game, onedrive, msi afterburner etc)

I was going to say my drivers are up to date but it looks like a new driver was released today so I'll get back to you on that one. I actually don't know if this has been a new thing happening or not because I moved from my Switch to PC somewhat recently.

I don't generally have a lot of things running in the background, at most I have Firefox, Discord, Epic Games open. I have the Steam and Epic overlays disabled as I've heard they can sometimes cause problems.

once you reach back to me, please also provide if the pc is a desktop or laptop and take a look in control panel if you have onedrive installed, thanks.

OneDrive is 100% not on my PC, never have used it and if it was on my PC it was removed a long time ago, it does not show up in the Control Panel or if I search in the search bar. I should also mention I'm on Windows 10 and this is a PC I built myself. Doesn't look like the latest Nvidia update has changed the behaviour I'm seeing at all unfortunately.

okay at this point you can try to verify the game files:
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/c-Category_RocketLeague/c-RocketLeague_TechnicalSupport/how-do-i-verify-the-integrity-of-rocket-league-game-files-on-a-pc-a000084236

delete the cache:
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/c-Category_RocketLeague/c-RocketLeague_TechnicalSupport/how-do-i-delete-the-rocket-league-cache-on-a-pc-a000084230

and create brand new save files as the ones you have could be corrupt:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2959441560
start from the “Platforms and Articles” section.

do everything and, in case nothing above helps, you could try to play other games, or better, perform a benchmark of the system to analyze if you have a fault hardware or its just a game issue.

best programs you could use in that case are in order: 3dmark, cinebench, geekbench and novabench.

Do you have a VRR monitor? Like G-sync or Free-sync?
Lunick Apr 6, 2024 @ 1:51am
So I've verified the game files (I didn't expect this to do anything because I changed from Epic Store to Steam to see if that would fix the issue), I've deleted the cache and I successfully cleared my save file (although the Steam link doesn't work in that article anymore but I found it from the Epic link) and nothing has changed. I do play other games including Fortnite, Dead by Daylight and other games quite regularly and none of them exhibit issues like this.

I'm uploading a video but I've noticed that if I alt-tab out of the game, the frame graph stops displaying the stutter and the game starts to run smoothly until I tab back into the game again, not sure if that would help diagnose the issue. I've also found that sometimes relaunching the game will continue to have the stutter or completely clear it from appearing until a few more matches.

I do have a VRR monitor running Free-sync that is compatible with Nvidia's G-Sync.

Video below, this is the footage captured using OBS and I've cut the sound as I was playing with friends in VC (don't judge my gameplay too much please lmao). There's no need to watch the full thing but: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acdn68yOrQI
-At around 11:43 you can start to see small yellow spikes (I don't perceive any visual stutter here)
-At around 20:00ish you can start to see the spikes as red and I can start to see stutter in my visuals (I don't think the video picks them up well)

It seems like the stutter doesn't really pick up well on video but it basically feels like the image is jittering, it got much worse after the recording. Thankyou both for trying to help me btw.

at this point if you have time and want I would suggest to perform a clean windows installation using media creation tool.

the process will delete everything from the pc (so do a backup), but that way you will only have the hardware and the game itself.

let me explain better:
once you make the clean windows installation, download as the first game RL (no additional programs, only RL and the system itself) and try to play some matches.
if you still have that issue, then you can pretty much say its a problem with the hardware/ monitor or hardware working with the game.

if that issue doesnt happen again, try to update the graphics drivers, reboot the system and try to play again, at that point if you get the issue, then its a problem with the graphics drivers. if not, move on to the windows system update and do the same...if not, the additional normal programs you use and so on.

are you using a xbox controller?

Yes, I've tried turning rumble off but that didn't seem to affect anything.
Lunick Apr 11, 2024 @ 11:17pm
So I played a couple matches without my bluetooth controller connected and I've yet to see the stutters/frame spikes. So how would I go about fixing this issue as I absolutely cannot play with KB+M, I am very bad lmao
Volodesi Apr 12, 2024 @ 12:00am
Oh, I completely forgot that Bluetooth did that. The game polls controllers at a pretty high rate and Bluetooth is very sensitive to signal issues. Which is what causes the game to lag when the signal has any drops or high latency.

That's why we don't support playing the game over Bluetooth and recommend getting the official adapters or using wired.

Xbox and Sony make dedicated adapters for PC.

I'm having the same issue. I have the game rocket league on epic games and steam but only the steam version seems to be having issues. I have tried pretty much everything. Can anyone suggest something else to try??
