Stuttering issue... losing audio and controller input 'randomly'
Hey I have the weirdest issue. Whilst playing my audio and input will simultaneously cut out for fractions of a second. It feels like a kind of stutter where the sound and controls of my car are turned off and on in rapid succession. Moreover, it sometimes happens more frequently than others. Like I can play for hours and have no problem and then have frequent issues all of a suddon.

My system:
I7 6600K
1080GTX
16GB ram
Windows 10
PS4 controller

Things I've considered:
- I've recentely completely reinstalled windows including all drivers and RL.
- I've even cleaned of any dust and whatnot in and around the PC case.
- It kinda feels like a hardware issue, but I have no sound or input issues while playing other games, listening to music, playing video's or anything else I do on my PC.
- I have the issues whether I use a wired connection to the PS4 controller or a Bluetooth connection.
- I also have the 'engine sound cutting out untill I respawn' bug and the '3 sound missing in the 3, 2, 1 countdown'bug but I think those are unrelated problems.

I've found one other post of a person having the same problem (thank god I'm not alone :) ), but there wasn't a solution posted. TBH I haven't checked what happens to my FPS during this. Maybe it's some kind of massive drop in overall processing of the game... Normally it runs super smooth at over 250 FPS without noticeable framedrops though.

Any1 else got this? Idea's?! Help is greatly appreciated. I just don't know where to look right now.

Hi, I've had this issue about 8 months ago and now it started happening again. Its been cutting out extremely frequently. Did you find a solution? This is making the game unplayable.

I'm also having this issue and have found no solution and very few people are also experiencing it from my research.

I am all but ready to lay down rocket league for good. I also had the issue about 8 months ago and it went away after a week or so... but now it's persistent and is making the game unplayable for me.

I had the same problem a while ago and now it seems it's back again.

It plays fine most of the time, but every now and then, the audio and the controller cutout for a bit, which obviously screws with me if I'm in the middle of a game.

I think it may be related to the USB cable?
(Using DS4Windows)

EDIT: It was indeed the USB cable. After swapping it out with a new cable, the problem disappeared. Perhaps the connector loosens over time? And the controller is sensitive to that?

I have never experienced this issue until last night.

Audio completely cuts out, and controller input sometimes goes along with it. Both are bluetooth connections and NEITHER has ever occurred before.

This is a RL problem - not a windows problem.

You should never use Bluetooth on Windows 10 for gaming. It's widely known that if the signal starts to drop, the game and audio will start to die. It's been an issue for a very long time.

That's why it never happened until the latest RL update, right? Never once in YEARS of playing until the latest update - and NEVER with any other game.

That must also be why other people are complaining about it happening with USB connections, because USB = Bluetooth?

I've been using a DS4 for well over 6 years. Don't feed me this "it's widely known" nonsense, particularly when your 'evidence' is someone complaining about an Xbox controller which I don't use.

To summarize:

My BT signal is as solid as it gets. I'm sitting 3' away with direct LOS to the receiver.

I've been using a DS4 on windows via InputMapper (see previous remark about BT signal strength - I CAN SEE IT IN REAL-TIME) for several years.

Other posters specifically mention using USB. USB is not Bluetooth.

This doesn't happen with any other game. Ever. Not once.

This only started happening with the latest RL patch.

This is a RL problem. Not a BT or Windows problem.

I know exactly what your going through, it's been happening to me and other people I know randomly.. sound and controls cut out and last action remains pressed indefinitely until a new input is pressed. i play kbm wired, my mate plays controller we both experience this now and again.

could it be discord somehow interfering with the game? idk

there is another glitch i encounter it happens when there is a team game, the over lay that shows the team name, something like (team vitatlity vs nrg) will be on screen as the kickoff countdown is going and i wont have controls when the kickoff starts, this glitch has been going on for almost a year now [ defenitely a glitch within the game as the mouse will be on screen with the overlay team 1 vs team 2, the mouse should not be on the screen at all during a game like i said this only happens in team games at the start of the game]

happens for my first RL game.... i alt tab out and back in and it fixes the problem. i had this before and was able to fix. i just cant remember. i think its a steam issue - big picture etc.

The season 7 update has brought this issue to me for the first time. I'm sure I'll be told it's because I'm using Bluetooth... but I've been playing Rocket League since the year it was released with various wireless Xbox and Playstation controllers connected via Bluetooth and it hasn't been an issue until this update was pushed out.

That points to it being a Rocket League problem, not a Bluetooth problem. Especially considering it ONLY happens with this game and no other. Only the game audio for Rocket League, and the controller cut out at the same time, but not my audio for the music I am listening to through the same headset...
