Joining Friends over Steam Bug

Somehow we can't follow friends into a match anymore. It disappeared on the Steam Menu. :(

I and my group of fellow regular Rocket League players are all experiencing the same issue it sounds like. None of us can click on "Join Friend" any longer, even if there are open spots on a given server. "Join Friend" is grayed out...we can't even click on it any more. We're all playing through Steam.

Unclear if this is a bug or if they're intentionally killing a feature since it's not available on other platforms. Super annoying that it's gone

I'm thinking bug since I've seen other server issues relating to players on steam with the new update. "Join Friend" should have been added to the in game friends list instead of keeping the joining through party.

I haven't heard anything official about this...has anyone else? Is this a feature that was removed intentionally? Is it a bug? If it is a bug...are they going to fix it?

I asked Psyonix to check on this possible not intended bug but so far no confirmation.

Is Psyonix acknowledging that this is a real thing yet? They still aren't mentioning it in "known issues" or in patch updates.

I feel as though this is intentional and I am surprised this wasn't removed a long time ago.

It allows big groups of friends to take over a Casual lobby and farm XP/Challenges.

I don't see a problem with that. Most of the time we play Casual lobby with 4 or 6 people. And i buy the Rocket Pass because i can still level it up playing with my friends.. if i can't do that anymore in the future i wont buy the pass anymore because i will be not able to finish it. Besides who cares about xp or rocket pass level. You dont get any advantages. Just my opinion.

I don't know why a group of friend taking over a casual lobby is "farming." They're playing the game like normal, just with friends. Sometimes there's a group of four friends, or five, and other randoms join. Sometimes it's a group of six, but they're still playing and enjoying the game. Why does it matter if you get XP/challenges whether you're playing online with randoms or online with friends?
