keyboard and mouse input extending past release

only happens in rocket league. both inputs are wired. initial press responds fine but on release sometimes the action will continue. KBM I could imagine pressing keys possibly a thousand times in a match and I notice this happening maybe 5-10 times a match. I have a decently powerful pc and not stuttering in game. Anyone else have this problem?

can you share with me the hardware specifications of your pc? What keyboard and mouse do you have?
it's a very strange problem.
first of all check that you do not have the voice chat button on a key that you use to do other actions.
do you have a controller with which you can try to see if the same problems recur with it too? (so that we can rule out a physical problem of the keyboard and mouse). also I would recommend that you contact psyonix support while doing other additional tests:

Also could try monitor missing inputs in Network/Performance graph :

For example in Network graph :
"IBuf: Input Buffer. Displays how many frames of client input the server currently has queued. Higher values may cause increased input lag, rubberbanding, and latency."

It seems to only happen with my keyboard. I tried a controller and it seems fine. it happens with any input from my keyboard so that rules out sticky keys.

Do you have any software that changes the polling rate of your keyboard? I remember reading somewhere that having to high or too low of polling rate can affect input in some games.

I know that Rocket League will actually lag if your polling rate is too high.

Yes, Volodesi is right. The polling rate should be modified on the back of the keyboard or with some softwares.

I figured it out, it had to do with report rate. My report rate was set to 500 so I turned it to 125 and now this no longer happens.

ive never changed my keyboards polling rate but ill give it a look

so when typing some of my findings, I noticed that a similar kind of lag/buffer/delay happens. when typing I will press 2 keys but the 2 letters dont show up until about the time that I am releasing the 2nd key. Ive opened other games and tested this and it appears to only happen with rocket league. Ive run games that are more intensive on my system like Satisfactory and COD Modern Warfare 2020. Also less intensive games like minecraft. this problem still does not occur.

I believe this has something to do with Rocket League and not my setup because ive been playing KBM for 5 years now and after the 2nd to latest update is when this started to occur.

i am KBM player too and have the same problem, its not just W key but my D key and space bar and whatever it wants rly, same here for other games i dont have any issue and i have the "sticky keys" on other keyboard too, i dont kave mouse problems justt keyboard.
it's rly irritating i can't play like this
