Game seems to alt-tab by itself

Hello,

Since about 2 or 3 days ago my game seems to stop responding to my controller and the sound shuts off. The first time this happened I thought the game crashed and I shut it down and rebooted.

The second time (and every time since) I noticed that my mouse shows up on the screen. Rocket league is still on my monitor but the sound is gone and my mouse shows up. If I then click my mouse anywhere on the screen is brings RL back into focus, game sound returns and I can resume play.

The sound went away because I had the settings setup to not play game sound when I am alt-tabbed out of the game and changing that setting keeps game sound going during this issue. But the issue still remains.

My buddy is also having this issue so I can only assume it is something to do with RL itself.

I have tried messing with Focus assist and steam overlay, thinking that I was getting notifications that were taking focus from the game itself, but no luck.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm troubleshooting this problem myself and I think I found the culprit - Xbox game bar. I went in to Windows settings and turned this off and I just played 2 games without losing focus and sound.

As someone mentioned - turn off game bar

Windows settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar


Would also recommend pausing Windows update while you play - You can unpause it afterwards if you want.

Windows settings > Update & Security > Pause updates for 7 days

Also, check to make sure other programs you're running aren't checking for updates automatically. Some programs will try to install things in background and will fail causing your game to get tabbed out.

Thanks for the replies. I am betting it is in fact the game bar.

I'm also dealing with a bunch of lag that I have never had in this game...I wonder if game bar is causing this too.

Just to follow up, This seems to have worked for me after a short test. I played a few rounds last night after making the change and 4 or 5 this morning to test it out and it didn't happen once.
My buddy still is having the issue, so hopefully it gets sorted out for him soon.

No idea. Mine has been stable since then. I can't remember if I did anything else. I don't think it worked for my friend actually but it seemed to for me.

Me neither, the game keeps tabbing out randomly it is very annoying, I don't have any new drivers either, it makes not sense.

the problem is new again and xbox game bar doesn't have any relation to it (its deactivated) me and my friends have it since a few days. have to wait for psyonix update i guess

After closing Razer Synapse, I stopped encountering the issue, but that still is problematic since I kinda need the software for other games.
