Powerslide Tutorial Keeps Restarting... Bug?

Just bought the game and started with the tutorials. On the powerslide tutorial now. Using an Xbox 360 controller, tells me to hold X to powerslide. I'm driving into the blue circle holding X.. powerslide works flawlessly, as soon as I come out of the blue circle to return as instructed, it restarts the tutorial.. wtf? I have done this 20 times or more now trying to figure out what the deal is. I have done simple U turn powerslides as it instructs, I've done multiple donuts, I've tried powersliding around the outside of the blue ring.. nothing works it just restarts. Is this a bug or what am I missing here?

EDIT: It was a bug. I used the keyboard and used Left Shift to powerslide instead of my Xbox 360 controlelr and it let me finish the tutorial.
