Rocket League

Rocket League

İstatistiklere Bak:
Other PC on local network (LAN) can't join lobby hosted by me but I can join theirs.
We're trying to play in a local lobby (LAN) using two PCs (PC-A and PC-B).

If PC-B hosts the lobby, PC-A can join and play. If PC-A hosts the lobby, PC-B sees the game but can't join. Only a negative confirmation sound is being played when pressing A on the join screen.

Since PC-A has more powerful hardware and experiences lags when PC-B is hosting the game, we prefer to let PC-A host the game.

If PC-B attempts to join the lobby and PC-A leaves the game, the error message 42 (connection lost) followed by error 71 (connection timed out) is displayed on PC-B's screen shortly after.

Troubleshooting according to this official support article[support.rocketleague.com] didn't help.

Other troubleshooting steps didn't help either:

  • Restarting the game processes.
  • Restarting the Steam processes.
  • Restarting the PCs.
  • Using another ethernet port for both PCs on the routers internal switch both PCs are connected to.
  • Creating exceptions in anti-virus software for the games executable on both PCs.
  • Disabling anti-virus software completely on both PCs.
  • Validating game files on both PCs.

PC-A runs on Windows 10, PC-B on Windows 8.1 and both are up-todate.

BUMP

I keep get the same thing would really like to know of anyone that has had any success with this: error = "your connection to the game has been lost. [Error: 42]"
One other thing to note, is that we play several games on our local LAN with no issues, we are running through a wired router and our pings are all under 20. Games we play include, Age of Empires 3, Track Mania nations forever, Minecraft and Blur... all of these games run really well, except Rocket League, one PC creates a host, then when the second PC goes to join, PC1 goes to spectate and PC2 joins. PC1 can spectate and see PC2 car moving around, then if PC1 goes to join PC2 gets kicked with the above error 42.
I thought this may have been due to PC1 and PC2 having the same license, but they do not...
I have since given up on trying to find a fix or even the cause but am convinced that this is a software issue because the game runs fine in LAN after I performed a fresh Windows 10 installation on PC-A (see example above).
Hmm, that's interesting so you can actually get offline LAN working if you do a fresh install of win 10? I'm not willing to do a fresh install every time I want to play a game, my win 10 is on both machines and both machines are up to date in terms of updates.

okay, then I guess I'm left with going for refunds on all my copies...
