The game won't launch

Good day everyone,

i have a problem regarding the game. It won't launch.

i have tried almost everything, i did verify the files, unistall and remove the files and reinstall it again, but it won't open. all my steam games works perfect, except Rocket League.

please if you did face this problem before, let me know how did you fix it.

Your PC specs would be nice know but here are some common solutions. Do these steps in this order.

Run Windows in safe mode and run the command sfc /scannow in command prompt. It will try to fix any corrupt .dll files. If that doesn't work, re-Install the game.

Verify Game Cache.

Disable in-game overlay.

Type -windowed in Launch Options.

At D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rocketleague\Binaries\Win32 there is a file called RocketLeague.exe, run it as administrator.

Having the same issue. Have tried every fix I have found on the internet dating back through 2015. Nothing is working. Have reinstalled the game, verified, launch options, administrator, etc. etc. etc. Just stopped launching after Windows 10 Update last week I believe.

Yes that is exactly what happened to me, after updating my windows everything went down.

ohh, my windows updated too, and it broke the game... maybe its the last win 10 update... i reinstalled the game 3 times now, and sent 3 different mails to psyonix, the support is awful in this situations. if anyone has an update on this, pls comment

I solved it guys. The last update messed up with some dlls. To fix this, go to the library, right click on Rocket League, then go to properties, and go to open game folder; It should open the game files. Go to the folder called "_CommonRedist", then go to the "vcredist" folder, then on the one called 2010, and then open the vcredist installer that corresponds to your system (x86 if its a 32 bit OS, and x64 if its a 64 bit OS). When you open the installer, please make sure you REPAIR and dont uninstall it, otherwise it could mess up something. Please comment back here if you solved it or in my profile. Hope that helped!

I finally got my game to launch after trying a bunch of things.

First, when I tried launching RocketLeague.exe as an Admin from steamapps\common\rocketleague\Binaries\Win32 it gave me the error

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\d3dx9_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

Then I went into the System32 folder and deleted "d3dx9_43.dll"
and for good measure I went into the SysWOW64 folder and also deleted "d3dx9_43.dll"

Yours might be different, so delete the one that's giving you the error.

Then I reinstalled DirectX from Microsoft's website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
which reinstalls the correct versions of the files I just deleted.

That fixed my problem after I tried many other solutions. Hope that helps.

HI, thank you for you guys help. Noqui, I tried what you said, now it is giving me another error message (English is not my primary language so I'll translate as best)

Windows could not launch the application properly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application


Any help is appreciated. Windows 10 sucks.

Although, the other games that were not working or giving away black screen seem to work, Rocket League is now the main issue. I tried reinstalling it again of course.

Ok, so i figured out that the problem is not in the game, but in the computer. Windows is mixing 32 Bit dll´s with 64 Bit dll´s so, when you try to open rocket league, or any other 32 Bit app, it spits the error 0xc000007b. Just google "Error: The application was unable to start correctly. 0xc000007b" and many solutions should pop up. Check them out. Many of them are in the Microsoft Forums, so the solution is given by Microsoft Engineers.

Only then (because I'm stupid ;-) did I check my antivirus. And yes, it blocked the .exe file from changing files, and as it runs on auto-mode (I use Bitdefender) it doesn't throw up any warning/information notices.
Once I had allowed it to run, everything was back to normal.

So, always check basics first.

this game is so terribad, full of AFK/BOTS/CHEATERS/UNFAIRMM donkey is what it is just gaybage...how do people really find enjoyment out of this, it ruins friendships and doesn't respect the time of the people who play it. Games are meant to be fun, amazing concept Rocket epicfails. DON'T BUY

it does make sense to me now, i use bitdefender and i guess that's why it won't open. i am deleting bitdefender btw. thanks real chicken.

I installed the last update on my newer pc and everything works fine. I installed the last update on an older pc and now i get (Game failed to start, Error Code 51).
