Steam Controller Settings Issue

I've never had this issue in my 3 years playing up until 1-2 weeks ago. I use an Xbox One Controller to play Rocket League, and I have always had steam controller settings enabled so that I can use square deadzone. But now, whenever I have steam controller settings enabled, it overrides the in-game bindings and brings up the steam interface, not letting me use my control settings. The only solution I have found is disabling steam controller settings altogether, but then I cannot play square deadzone and my gameplay is a lot worse. Is this a known issue, and is there a solution?
