I'm so tired of smurfs.
Q up 1s maybe i'll improve at this game a bit. No idea what my 1s rank is just gonna try to get ranked but probably around D2 D3. Get in a match. Brand new epic account. Highest rank C2 Div 1 in 2s. Proceeds to double flip reset from across the map on me. Obliterate me every kick off. Forfiet game at 3:30 seconds. Close game. Play a better one. It's insane how incompetent the devs are at doing anything to combat smurfing or making this game enjoyable. Truly a masterclass by Psyonix at ineptitude.

I'd much rather play against a smurf and challenge myself than be stuck with two afk bots as teammates who never challenge, sit in goal the whole match and can't clear a ball to save their lives.

I'm by no means good at this game and the W or L at the end of the match doesn't bother me at all.

HeplMeh, you're right. It's just for me that this season's matchmaking is fundamentally broken, the most severe I have experienced. While I accept responsibility for my own gameplay, I am not a SSL-God and I know that. But the consistent pairing with significantly unskilled teammates (approximately 85% of matches) is unacceptable and mentally draining.

I rarely face GC and SSL opponents (and even win at times if I face them) which I prefer more for the challenging experience. Sometimes, I actually play with equally skilled teammates.

But the overwhelming majority of matches are characterized by inactive, unskilled teammates, nowhere near my skill level.

With 4000+ hours of experience, I question the long-term viability of continuing to play under these conditions. It's mentally draining.

You cannot play Rocket League with the expectation that people will be decent human beings. It simply does not work like that.
People will exploit everything and anything for their own gain.

Sportsmanship is unicorn rare.

I also have pretty much the same experience as @GoldenEldiablo with my 3200 hrs.
At least 9 of 10 games when playing with randoms are filled with brain dead fools who wouldn't even be able to compete with the bots. Teamwork as a concept is not even invented for these dumpster fire of human beings.

Sportsmanship only exists in tournaments, don't expect people to play nice in pubs lmao

Can't you .. Adapt?

Yes, I've read double flip-reset just fine, but here comes the thought that if they're truly relying on mechanics all that much, their pride must be getting in and wouldn't be able to read you if you do something that's unexpected - Thinking about your moves, making moves to confuse or inflict a certain level of uncertainity onto them, like sacrificing a bita boost to have them believe you're gonna commit, only to brake it at the very last moment and gain the momentum while they can't do anything about it anymore.. Eventually challenging them and seeing if they can keep up.
I can guarantee you, this is gonna lead to them making tonsa mistakes, missing opportunities, and becoming unusure of their own skills.. Unless, they truly are smurfs, that is.. Which you should be able to find out by doin' this.

Sounds tough, but mostly comes down to the car control and conversing the boost without losing any speed, so a matter of the mechanical practice that also helps.

My point being, that people are too quick to pull the trigger, became even more so ever since the game became F2P.
I can't even count on my fingers just how frequently I had team mates voting to surrender in one day, within two hour session, only to prove them wrong by turning things around together, or even worse.. Straight-up purposefully abandoning the match, at which point the match became a loss much less due to the few mistakes we made and all the more so due to them throwing the axe and demanding things to go their way, which was for me to nod and surrender when they initiated the vote. I didn't agree, thus they leaved and made the decision deciding how's the match gonna end.
They made that decision, not some other opponent player by.. Playing the game. That's onto them and them alone.

Nah after my last session I realize this game doesn't bring me any joy. The amount of leavers, griefers trolls is insane. There's this mind numbing phenomenon in rocket league where players refuse to forfeit and also refuse to play the game. That I just cannot for the life me understand. It happens constantly. They get so mad they won't play and they won't ff so I can play another game they jsut sit there and cry and throw a tantrum. I've only ever seen this in Rocket League. It's mind numbing. There time is so worthless, their life so meaningless that the best thing they can do is to literally sit in a lobby afk and ruin the whole game for everyone and hold it hostage. After getting 3 of those today I'm just done with the game. It's not wworht my time. The community is one of the most childish and pathetic I've ever seen. The last one to do it bragged about being a 23 year old home owner. Wouldn't FF. Wouldn't play the game. Just sat there. Insane to me. My times worth more than this game.

I've just edited the last part of the first paragraph of the quoted reply, since the punctuation was off and made no sense as a result. Respectively, the point and the thought wasn't finished, instead had an additional unrelated one with no context to it, creating the confusion, hence why I did that.

That said, now you're describing team mates throwing the matches.
Come on, now.
I've acknowledged your points, brought up a potential solution to them, only for you to turn it around and bring up something completely new and unrelated to the descriptions of your initial topic and thoughts about it..

If you believe that this is only a Rocket League thing, players becoming AFK and no longer participating, yet throwing off the AFK system, you're absolutely wrong.

- In Dead by Daylight, you've got players pointing at the lockers you're hiding in, revealing your position to the killer, purposefully failing the generator skill checks for the exact same reason, etcetera..;
- In Overwatch, you get players picking unfair engagements purposefully, rushing-in alone to end it ASAP by givin' the enemies the lead and ultimate charges that are detrimental to the result of the match;
- In Valorant, you got players either body blocking you, walking behind you to reveal your position while you're sneaking, possibly type it in the chat..-

The point being..
You're being unreasonable and expecting to receive some of the best players in the world on your team, while doin' the exact moves you're complaining about.

By all means, being dissatisfied is all fine, but the thought should be to improve the constant rather than grow even more negative and fall down due to it.
It's not my place to tell you what to do, so it's all up to you.
Hopefully, you'll forget those negative experiences and manage to have fun in this, or in other games that you decide to try out.

Oh I didn't mean for my reply to be some kind of rebuttle or to like discredit what you said. I guess I was just whining over my last experience in the game. I think you are correct and that's the approach you have to take if you enjoy the game and want to continue to enjoy the game. I know for me personally at 3k hours, I've hit the peaks I will in this game. I've hit what will most likely be my mechanically skill cieling as I don't have the time or the patience to grind out freeplay for hours on end. And the further I drop in ranks as I don't have the mechanics to keep up the worse my teammates will also become positionally, and awareness wise. That's just a fact of the game. And again, it's not the game's fault I don't want to grind it. If I truly enjoyed the game like I used to I would find the time and I would commit to doing it. Rocket League is an incredible competitve game with a mechanical skill cieling that I don't think has really any other comparison. But the more I play it the more I realize I'm just chasing what I used to enjoy about the gam instead of actually enjoying it. I don't doubt that every game has it's share of trolls and greifers. But atlesat in my expierence. I've never had a game where someone both refuses to play and also refuses to forfiet holding the entire lobby hostage. I've played plenty of agmes where people quit and leave or instantly forfiet or whatever but purposely just sitting in the game to waste everyones time is new to me. I hope RL can be fun to me again some day but I don't see myself playin it for a long time.

Oh, in that case, the fault probably lies on my part.

Either way, that's a rather unfortunate turn of the events, I do gotta say.
Seems we both know the possibilities of what to expect from the game, each of us heading different directions.
Personally, I still crave those few percentages of time spent in matches with actually chill players and balanced teams even after all this time despite the odds.
.. Even when the odds do rarely turn into my favour and grant me the desired experiences.. :ritonaworried:

There's not much else I can say to that, is there?
Welp, I best be on my way, call it a day here since I believe our discussion has reached its climax here, hasn't it?
In any case, I'm here in case you decide to add something more to possibly talk about it and discuss it through.

Can confirm that pretty much all larger online game communities are filled to the brim with degenerate people. It seems the biggest joy for many is the despair of others.
I almost entirely only play PvE or COOP games nowadays and I come from a background of only playing PvP-style games. It's really hard to enjoy games with a pvp setting because of the people playing being top tier A-holes much of the time.
I don't know if it's me becoming older or if people started to suck a whole lot more, also you could question the intelligence of most people. Most of the time the online PvP narrative seem to be all about humiliating and degrading everyone else in different ways. To be a showoff and brag as much as you can, it doesn't seem to matter if you're screwing over people, scamming people, if you boosted or botted your account, etc.
There is no true pride of hard work and cooperation, there is no honor and it doesn't seem to matter if your whole life is just a facade as long as it looks good.

Ya online games that aren't team based have been actually pretty enjoyable to me. I think that's part of why Battle Royale games took off so hard because you could play a multiplayer game without worrying about teammates or trolls or griefers and be in control of your own game. Maybe I need to look for more multiplayer games that have no teamwork component. Or just a game that has a better social system then RL. For whatever reason almost no one talks in Rocket League, zero mics, comms or friendly banter. It's a shame cause when people use mics it's so mcuh more enjoyable and everyone I chat with is usually a good sport. I miss the days of CS when everyone had a mic and just talked. But ROcket league for whatever reason is one of the most anti-social games in gaming. I've been playing a lot of Singleplayer games instead also and I've been enjoying my time much more.

While it's good to play people who are somewhat better than you, playing people who are miles better than you is not useful at all. You learn next to nothing by being totally outclassed.

Also keep in mind that people at "lower ranks" (I don't know.. maybe from bronze to at least diamond-champ) doesn't learn from mistakes (speaking in general terms). So even if the teams were fairly even in terms of skill levels they wouldn't be gaining much from it.
At these ranks you can literally see people keep doing the same mistake over and over again throughout a whole match. They don't notice patterns and they certainly don't know how to solve them.

Take it from me with almost 4k hours in this game that ranked is not salvageable at this point. Epic is making big gains from smurfs. If only 1% of those smurfs spend money in their live service then it's more than justified to intentionally ignore this problem.
I mean it's so bad atm that you have a better chance finding balanced matches in league of legends and dota 2.

It's what it is. Profit > Player satisfaction
