Will smurfing ever become bannable?

Based Valve banned a lot of smurfs last year from Dota 2. Why not doing the same in Rocket League?

Banning smurfs will eliminate 80-90% of the player base. In this late stage of RL, it's player base is mostly players with thousands of hours, and most of them do not want sweaty games all the time. But now it is just smurfs playing against other smurfs.

Can someone remind me again what the issue is with smurfs? If it's just people throwing matches, get over it. It's a multi player game and people suck. What do you expect? If it's people being idiots and ramming their own team mates or scoring on their own goal, again, it's a multi player game and people suck. Get over it

do you not know what smurfing means? it means when High level/skilled players make a new account to play at the Low Teir

It's killing the game even faster because regular players don't wanna keep playing when 80% of matches are smurfs. If it annoys me bad enough that I sit here debating if I should just call it dead and uninstall or keep trying to get some semblance of enjoyment out of this corpse of a game, then it sure as hell does the same to others. Eventually I and anyone else facing this constant dilemma is gonna choose to quit permanently.

This is an infuriatingly bad take. Boo hoo. Does that make it okay to ruin the game for lower skill players? And then those lower skill players go smurf the lower ranks and so on and on and on. This is how you kill a game.

Rocket League has a replay system, does it not? Make reports upload a replay. If someone is playing like a GC in Diamond and you have a replay as evidence then there's no false positive.

Pair this with more aggressive rank climbing. Why is it more punishing to your rank to lose a match vs winning one? Makes it easier to smurf.
If it's easier to climb, 'normal' players will hit a state of equilibrium for their skill level where they win one, lose one.

Smurfs will rank up even faster which means they have to waste more time deliberately de-ranking or setting up their 100th account, which'll still rank up insanely fast.

We have rank memory already, too, if someone's tracker stats show they peaked as a GC, maybe the game shouldn't be letting them drop down to Diamond as easily. This can also be used as evidence in a smurfing report.

There's tons of ways they can easily detect 'unusual activity' for a specified rank. If you don't want false positives, just make anyone with 'unusual activity' rank up abnormally fast until they're settled in whatever rank matches their true skill. Make it harder to smurf, not easier, and the game will become a lot more enjoyable.

Silly of you to think psyonix cares about this game. They haven't cared since these clowns sold out to epic and therefore killed the game. I only just recently reached GC2, so "smurfing" is not really a thing there, but i can imagine its awful in lower ranks these days. Anyway psyonix will not care, just how they will never care about the disgusting toxicity and the sheer luck components of RL. People think it's a competitove game but it's really not. It's a toxic, rapidly dying piece of garbage that was clearly purposely killed off by selling out to epic.

Just uninstall the game and have fun with other games, even RL proscene is gone soon thx to Epic. There is plenty other games to chose from. Also on your rant with saving replays, nobody at the support of Epic does care about replays, ive once send em one to get someone banned obviously playing against me while in the same team but they dont care about this ♥♥♥♥ in their game and this was before Epic did cut most of the support and so on. So you can only imagine how it is today with their almost fully AI supported system in place. Uninstalling this game relieved so much free time and joy i have with other games right now so i could care less , ♥♥♥♥ Epic for destryoing this game and Psyonix for selling this once good game.

The only sad thing today whcih i feel personally is that Rocket League is on my main Steam Acc, if it wouldnt be i would just have sold that one to some fortnite kid for some good bucks, unfortunately its on my main account so it has to rott there now uninstalled forever. Also that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Epic overlay in Steam cmon Psymoneyx.
