Remember when hitting GC actually meant something and had value?

The bar is so low for GC now it's really sad. Even if SSL is the new highest rank, it was never meant to replace GC, it was just meant for semi-pros/pros/insane people. After the mmr adjustments it's almost like psyonix forgot this fact and is making GC waaaay too easy to get

But GC didn't mean anything concrete, because the difference in skill between the bottom and the top was gigantic. So getting to GC didn't actually mean something, because other GCs looked down on the players at the cusp. GCs didn't respect the rank, only the MMR levels. Being GC didn't matter, but being 1[x]00 or 2000+ did.

So nothing changed, except now there's a top rank that really means something, and within GC there are tiers where the meaning is in the name. Sure, the threshold dropped a bit for GC 1, but so what?

wtf...gc didnt mean anything? It meant you were actually good and know how to play the game. Unlike the vast majority of players, especially now that it f2p. That bs statement of yours is the same mentality as those who claim theres nothing wrong with bringing low rank friends into champ games as if there gonna be able to even keep up. (which they cant of course)This is exactly why competitive is in the sad sorry state its in now, too many players that dont care to begin with, who go in only to get mad once they get feedback from those who are actually able to play with a certain amount of skill

In my opinion, the disparity in the ranks of the various players was absurd. the percentages were clear. more than 90 percent of the players were under the GC and there were very few people in those certain ranks. psyonix did well to lower the MMR in order to allow a better distribution of the players in the various ranks

And if GC meant something all by itself, you wouldn't have to qualify it. Another GC would ask you, "What MMR, though?" and if your MMR meant you were barely GC then that set you down in their estimations.

GC didnt mean anything concrete? Yes it does, it means you're better than most of all the players in RL. Sure compared to other GC's it might not mean as much depending on what tier, but it still meant something. Stop trying to make it seem like it literally meant nothing when it clearly did, most players couldnt even make it to diamond.
