Tips for beginners.
I thought I'd start a thread helping people with the problems I see in game.

1. You don't have to hit the ball
-This is the single most vital tip anyone can give you. If you're going to hit the ball towards your goal, don't do it. This seems obvious, but so many people are focused on just hitting the ball that they end up hurting their position or scoring on their team.

2. Don't sit underneat the ball.
-Unlike real football, it's really stupid to sit anywhere near a vertical drop. You won't get anywhere, the enemy team is more likely to just jump over your head and hit it out of there. The drops in this game are easily 2-4 seconds average, so regroup! get a good shot off!

3. Have boost, always.
-Without boost you're just dribbling, waiting to have that precious ball taken from you. If you're away from the ball, pick a few boost before you get there! The only time I'd recommend being out of boost is at the goal, even then, that should be a rare circumstance.

4. You can go on the wall. I see so many people look up at the ball, watch it fall, and then they all cluster into each other when it hits. Just get on the wall and jump off!

5. Forward roll is your friend.
-Use it, abuse it, never lose it.

6. If you are going to play goalie, know what a goalie does.
-Don't just sit in the box, play defense! If you sit in the box, then still get scored on your team is playing 1 person down at all times.

7. Think about where your shot is going. (Don't just boost into the wall by their goal)

Alright, feel free to add your own.

its a hard one but works. jump up to a far away incomeing ball, and roll in an appropriate time to hit or save the ball

1) Try not to put the ball behind you by bouncing it straight ahead of you unless it provides a good pass to a team member; in almost every other case it just means you put the ball in a centered play and your team is one man down to collect it while you re-orientate yourself

2) Don't cluster, if your team mate is already controlling the ball, let him duel it out and be prepared to gain control if he loses it, or take control if he passes

3) If the ball starts bouncing towards the enemy goal from one of the sides, don't be one of those "MUST GO FULL SPEED AHEAD" obnoxious misguided rockets, just stay calm, observe the trajectory, and be patient to get a good shot

4) If you're below a high bounce, or know you're not really good at fighting over a bounce, just ram/disorient the enemy players who are slowing down waiting for the ball to come down

5) Learn how to do controlled jumps, and minimize the downtime for yourself after performing tricks. I see loads of rookies just mashing that jump and double jump and end up spinning out of control, going into the wall, or otherwise be out of play for the next 10 seconds while they try to recouperate from their silly acrobatics

6) Have fun, enjoy playing the game, log out and do something else if you get frustrated, you'll be back

7) Friend me and play with me, teach me your ways, and I'll do your laundry
I usually pull away a bit from the ball and the huddle trying to hit the ball and wai for some leftover, then i use my boost and forward roll, sometimes it works very well!

I'd like to emphasize #6 from Necron (and Phoebe's, for that matter :p ). I always see a handful of people that simply park themselves in their net and wait. If your team is on offense, move up! Move up to midfield and help keep the ball in the offensive zone when the other team tries to clear it.

And one thing that's not terribly important, but something I've found kind of annoying:

- If you're in one of the forward positions on kickoff, go for the ball! It's cool if you like playing defense, but for this particular kickoff, you're in a forward position and closest to the ball. Don't just sit there and expect your guy(s) in the back to go all the way up for the ball. Help win the kickoff, then drop back to defense/goalie when you get a chance.

Actually, on a similar note:

- Don't be "that guy" that only wants to play one role in a team-based multiplayer game. You should be willing to bounce around and play different roles when necessary.

Also, one last, very minor F.Y.I.:

- "Cherry picking" is when you hang out in front of the opponent's goal or offensive zone while your team is on defense. I'm hearing a number of Twitch streamers using this term quite a bit recently, but in the completely wrong context.

1. Use dodge forward roll to save boost for when you need it. in fact the momentum gained from 2 forward rolls in a row is the same, if not, faster than, boost. dodge back roll can be used as well when you dont feel like turning around
2. when the ball is in one of the corners on your side, just boost and hit it into the wall instead of trying to drive around and hitting it when it comes back down. this is a lot more reliable as your opponents will be right behind you and unable to stop the ball from rolling onto their side
Couldn't agree more with everything, nice tips.
A lot of good beginner tips in here.

The biggest issue I see for a lot of new players is just going for the ball 100% of the time and taking any opportunity to hit the ball, even if it's not beneficial to hit the ball. If another player on your squad is already in the vicinity of the ball and trying to make a play, you typically (but not always) should be somewhere else on the field - in position waiting for a cross, at midfield or in goal playing defense, etc.

My biggest tips are:

1) Tutorials please
- Do the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorials, this isn't one of those games where you can just start playing it and slowly learn it, the tutorials help, this game is rather deep due to the amazing number of plays that can come from one starting maneuver.

2) Always learn
- Be watchful and learn plays, learn what will get the ball in most of the times, and exploit it with no shame.
(Right now the thing I do the most is shoot the ball along one of the sides, into the corner, the ball goes into their goal almost 80% of the time, while it's going towards their goal, and everyone is below it, I just prepare my position and *tap**tap* GOAL).

3) (Depends but mostly applies to all situations) If you're defending you DO NOT want the ball in the center, it'll make it easier for a random goalkeeper to attack and just jam it in.
If you are attacking, you want the ball in the center as much as possible.
(Again it depends, and you also should do 2) patterns to where you can shoot and put the ball where you want it, 90% if the ball is alongside the net sides, if you run up to it and double jump of the side you WILL put it into the center).

Not much to contribute except for my usual strategies.

Don't forget to have fun everyone c:
The things that always frustrate me as a player is

1.) When teammates frantically hit the ball back towards your goal.

It feels like I'm playing with 5 year olds with assburgers, calm down and progress the play. I understand if you hit the ball backwards by accident or mess up knock it wayward. It happens. However it doesn't take any skill to realize which side the goals are, don't ruin any foward progress with your impatience and ineptitude.

2.) On that note remember this is football/soccer, not rugby. Please stop being downs and don't scrum for the ball. If you see one or two players fighting for the ball in the corner that is not your cue to jump the clutter. All that does is make it harder for your teammates to do anything because you can and will bump into each other and it will leave your defense wide open.

I can't tell you how many times I went for a ball in a corner just to have my whole team ram my pooper knocking me away and keeping me out of action for 10 seconds just to have the ball bounce into the path of an opponent for an easy goal or even an own goal. It's frustrating and it makes you look mentally feeble. Stop.

3.) That no scrum rule also applies to kick offs. It is imperitive, absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ imperitive that during kick off at least one person stay back and cover for the team. If you are the back then it's your job. You may not want it but suck it up and do your job. You will not, let me repeat, will not reach the ball if you're at the back. That's just how it is. If there are two at the back then wait and see if the other person goes, and lets face it he will because hes inept like everyone else, then stay back. If there are two or three at the back and you're the furthest back then stay there you little ♥♥♥♥.

I would do this myself but sometimes I start off at the sides closer to the ball in which case it's my job to get the ball lest they get off an easy shot. It's frustrating beyond belief when after the initial challenge for the ball bounces toward goal and there's no one to clear it out and someone gets an easy tap in or worse the ball just bounces all the way into the net.
