Which side is the "Recent Players" issue coming from?
I was playing a game with another player I met through matchmaking and we were playing great games, but my computer brought up a window that interrupted the game so I lost him before I could add him. However, none of the people I've played Rocket League with are coming up in the Recent Players menu. Is this an issue on Valve's side, an issue on the dev's side, or an issue on my side? Is the menu just slow to update?

I see no one else has posted anything about this or replied, but I am also having the same issues. I know I'm not playing with bots because they all talk to me. Voice and text. Whenever the match is done and I'd like to add anyone on the fly, I go to my recent players in the Steam hub thing and it says I have not played with anyone recently...I have no idea if it's something on Psyonix's side or Valve's side, but either way it's incredibly inconvenient. Did you stumble across a fix by any chance?

I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the fact that it's crossplay between PS4 and PC.

If memory serves, the "Recent players" menu in Steam only works with games that use Valve's Steamworks system for online play (which presumably doesn't include Rocket League). So in other words it's probably not a problem on your end.

I -really- wish the recent players menu worked with this game. It would be great if Rocket League could get support for this somehow. I think it would do a lot for the game's community.

Check out Ysen's answer.

I haven't exclusively played with PS4 players though.

I didn't even think of that.

Yeah, there have been a few people I had fun playing with, but I couldn't find them on Steam afterwards to add them.

I'm shocked this issue isn't getting more attention. This is a HUGE missing feature :(

Yeah, I agree and I'm glad you bumped this because it saves me the time of making a pointless duplicate thread. I had a game the other night with a player that was really talkative and I had great chemistry with but when I went to add them after logging off I found they didn't show up in recently played even though I know they were PC also. If Steam's find a friend feature was better this probably wouldn't be an issue but since it's garbage this is something that could be much improved. It might be resolved when they add crossplatform teams though so hopefully it's something the devs are already aware of.

Exactly. I've had numerous amazing teammates that have been communicative and fun to play with - only they've had very generic names so when I search for them on Steam I'm SOL because there's hundreds of pages of players all with the same Steam name. Frustrating to say the least.

You can find the Steam IDs of the people you played with recently in the log files:
C:\Users\...\Documents\My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\Logs

If anyone is interested, I made a small AHK script to display and visit (doubleclick) the profiles of the Steam players from the most recent session.

(Compiled standalone: http://holzed.com/rlp.zip)

Edit: Looks like they're not logging the player info with v1.06 anymore now.

For those using this: Updated the script now to work after the update.
Blaze Sep 22, 2015 @ 10:02am
Thank you so much for the script!

I only wish I'd bothered to ask Google about all this earlier.
