About the new map...it's...lagging
Has anyone else experienced lag playing on Wasteland?
For some reason when I play that map my FPS drop to approx. 20-ish and it really bothers me because all the other maps run perfectly fine even on max graphic options.
So, if I have to play a ranked on this map I'm at a clear disadvantage because of that.
Are Psyonix planning on implement a map select or something, it's really annoying. :steamsad:

my fps dropped by half on the map, basically unplayable on my side. They need to reuce the particle effects on the map or inprove the game engine.

no lag here..=P

Is wasteland only for unranked?

No, it can appear in 3vs3 or 4vs4 regardless of whether or not it's ranked.

Hmmm... I've played a dozen or so matches since it's release and haven't gotten it yet. Bad luck I suppose.

I have three reference points: My PC, my brother's PC, my wife's PC.

I am running an overclocked Haswell i5 with an overclocked GTX 980. I have changed the .ini file to uncap my frame rate (144hz monitor, want more than 60 fps). On any other map in the rotation I get well over 150 fps. On Wasteland, I get between 60 and 90.

The wife has a stock Haswell i5 with a GTX 770. She doesn't care to tinker with computers, so components are stock, Rocket League is set to whatever GFExperience thinks is "optimal" for her rig. Solid 60 fps (capped) frame rate across all maps including Wasteland.

Brother's rig: Athlon X4 something or other with a GTX 770. He does not uncap his frame rate. He gets a solid 60 fps the entire time we play on any arena other than wasteland. His maximum framerate on Wasteland is 40 during a 1 vs 1 test game, and during a 3vs3 he gets mid teens to low twenties at best. He switched the graphics down to essentially potato quality and the frame rate didn't go up in the slightest.

My initial thoughts with my small sample size is the CPU. If I have a chance tomorrow I may swing by my brother's house to do some performance analysis on Wasteland to see if one of his CPU cores is sitting at 100% bottlenecking the game or if his GPU is the bottleneck.

I did not have a chance to stop and do some benchmarking on my brother's PC. I did do some basic performance checking on my rig.

My rig specs:
Haswell i5 @ 4.0 ghz
Gigabyte GTX980, 1354mhz GPU clock, stock 7ghz memory clock
16 Gigs RAM
Game loads and runs off a Crucial MX100 SSD that is not shared with the OS (OS boots from its own SSD)
TASystemSettings.ini has AllowPerFrameSleep=False
All other settings in game are otherwise maximized for quality, running at 1920x1080 resolution.

I picked two random non wasteland maps and observed framerates (via GFExperience overlay) while monitoring GPU and CPU utilizations in real time on my other monitors.

On non Wasteland maps, in a 3vs3 with bots:
Observed frame rates were between 130 and 160ish. Rocket League CPU usage hovered around 50%, GTX 980 usage pretty much flatlined at 100%. Based on this, the GPU is the limiting factor in frame rate on non Wasteland maps for me.
Here is what GPU Tweak reported for GPU usage during these rounds:

I then played two rounds on Wasteland, again, 3vs3 with bots:
Observed frame rates were between 70 and 105. Rocket League CPU usage hovered around 67%, GTX 980 usage bounced around from mid 40s to mid 80s. This indicates to me that my loss of about half my total FPS is not a GPU bottleneck. The GPU is not cranking along at 100% but struggling to keep up the frame rate, something else is causing a bottleneck and starving the GPU of things to render.

Keep in mind unless I had AllowPerFrameSleep=False set, I would get a solid, limited 60 FPS consistently across all of these tests. Wasteland looks to be using an additional 12-17% CPU over non Wasteland maps. It would have to be something CPU related causing the problem, as the game simply stops stressing my graphics card while cutting my frame rate in half. I would be interested in finding out if the people who are also reporting unplayable frame rates are running weaker CPUs. Out of my three accessible systems, the two with an i5 do take a big performance hit but not big enough to make the game unplayable.

Noticing some issues with latest update too, wasteland being the worst. Especially when more cars around. Minor stutter in old maps (was all fluid before), and way worse in wasteland. Setting video settings way lower didnt reallly help either.

AMD x4 3.2Ghz and gtx 760.

Updated my nvidia drivers to 359.06 and rebooted my computer and that made the lag go away. Tested with bots and with a bud in the server. Not sure if it was one or the other that fixed it tho.

Have you tried it with 6 people on one server? I feel like that's when it's starting to lag immensely. I have also updated my graphic card's and my sound card's driver yesterday, didn't to sh:Light:t for me.

I just updated to 359.06 myself and the lag went away. I've got a AMD Athlon II X4 640 with a GTX 750ti.....was dropping to 10-15 FPS, now it's back up to a fluid 50-60...

No Problem her

I run on an i5 3470 , 16 GB of RAM, Asus Z77 board, the mini GTX 970, Samsung 850 EVO, and with the graphics checkbox options like bloom and depth of field off (they're distracting IMO). No performance issues yet. A user earlier said it might be with certain CPUs, they might be right.
