What was the reason trading was removed?
I remember trading in Team Fortress 2 kinda killed the mood. Constant harassment by traders, and bot farming.

Psyonix wrote this as the reason:

We’re making this change to align with Epic’s overall approach to game cosmetics and item shop policies, where items aren’t tradable, transferrable, or sellable. This opens up future plans for some Rocket League vehicles to come to other Epic games over time, supporting cross-game ownership.

in reality they just want players to spend more money

Why pay 20$ for a blackmarket and 7$ for car when you can trade it with other players for 1$ for the car and 3-10$ for the decal?

I mean even you trade keys or credits before that was the way it goes. I got my gravity bomb for 800 creds (8$) when trading with other player while it is listed at 20$ at shop

They just want to capitalize on cosmetic money :imrich:.

This has to be a rhetorical question. The only right answer is money. People were, and could go on third market sites to buy and trade for anything WAY cheaper than what Epic was selling it for. Outrageous blueprint prices, FOMO cash shop is the gaming future. This was bound to happen the moment the game went f2p.

Why offer a trade service that gives you zero benefit but now you have to deal with kids screaming at you because they were scammed?

Probably easier to just not have to deal with that.

Was removed because RL is now a cuckold to Fortnite.

I mean people get "Scammed" by breaking TOS by doing "Real Money Trading" aka RMT

It doesn't happen if you put the trade in same trade window and trade credits or stuff for things you want. Like how i pay someone 800 creds for his gravity bomb.

In fact, they can actually ban people who complain they got scammed after buying them off sites cuz it break their tos of RMT

The developers are idiots.

When Steam had the game it cost to get it. Now that epic made if ftp they have to try to scam as many people as possible. Funny thing is I used to spend money on the game but since trading has ended haven't spent a copper penny.

It's not they are trying to scam or becoming "stupid" but they are just becomes greedy with the F2P "cosmetic" practice. They are doing whatever to make short term profit even if it degrades whatever is left of the game and abandoning long term sustainability, as well as long term profit.

Trading was one of way of keeping the money fluid and stuff, but now they cater to those kids that begs for their mom's credit cards sadly.

It just matter of time until people stop buying stuff as hype goes down, and it will be harder for them to sell anything. I mean for those that already spend 120$ for cosmetic, would you keep buying for every year? How many new player will buy them too compared to server cost?

They obviously don't think of it and only thought of their quarter revenues

Because Epic, the answer is simple, they turned this game from a nice idea and concept to a free-to-play money thirsty game, removing trading, adding casual penalties (the stupidest thing i've ever seen in a game), removed some nice cars, and now you can get them only for real money, no DLCs.

I think alot of people seem to forget that this is a business. They need money to operate therefore they need income. That is not greed, thats called how the world works. Watch this.

Do you work a job? Do you get money for that job? Okay then, you're just a greedy scammer then. Right? Or are you just a person trying to get money so you can pay your bills? Exactly, you need to pay your bills. That doesn't make you greedy.

This is a video game. Its a product. I know gamers love to believe that devs should make games for free, never sell them and work on them their entire lives but thats just ridiculous and never going to happen.

This is by far the dumbest take I've heard so far. Basically you've merged with pure capitalist extraction logic.

There's some good practice and bad practice

It's like saying people selling a single french fries for 100$ is doing their job and not being greedy

I work on a professional field and have a job too buddy, don't blow something out of proportion. Epic is clearly upping their prices and alike. It's a profit minded business, not to pay their bill, and they decided to milk us dry like cows.

But as people said, vote with your own wallet. I refuse to pay a single penny to them with this practice. Sure let them figure how to pay their bill from other user, but certainly not from me.

They pretty much removed trading because of Rocket Racing/Fortnite. Since items are now crossed over to those games that you own in Rocket League, they didn't want one game to affect them all. I just don't get why they couldn't have a disclaimer stating that you'd lose said item in all your games if you traded it away. Epic Games is kind of like engineers, they think they're coming up with good ideas but in reality it's the lowest IQ decision that they never have to deal with themselves in the future.

It merely just excuse tbh

Adding disclaimer like that would be completely understandable, but they went deleting one feature that 10%+ userbase used. Not to mention people that bought 5$ credits to get trading after it went f2p didn't get any compensation for the feature they got disabled.
