Quite annoyed at supposed Linux support
I recently have been messing about with ubuntu linux and found that rocketleague was supposedly linux supported only to find upon waking up and checking downloads (i have a 5Mbps down) that its not actually supported.

I know compatibility mode seems to work well but it would have good to know BEFORE.
had to wait a whole other day to play.

Mostly just wanted to express my frustration, thanks for reading.

It is supported on an actual Linux install, maybe not Ubuntu though.

It used to have a native linux client, but they pulled support. If you want to play it on linux now, you need to force proton experimental branch, otherwise you get the old outdated native version. See more tips from others on protondb.

It was for linux before but since Epic bought Rocket League, they pulled off. They hate other platforms and never support anything other. I hate them so much for their egoistic and arrogant behavior

Unfortunately it's a lie on the steam page.
They dropped support ages ago.
Fortunately proton is great.

Eh, Epic is unfortunately a giant corpo that's all about the bottom line.
I'm just sad psyonix was lured in by their promises(and money), whatever they may have been.

Yeah I've been slowly dipping my toes into more linux based things and have to say the work on proton is amazing!

Psyonix was not lured. The owner and most of the devs were originally from Epic. They left to make Psyonix so they could make a few of their own smaller games and help other bigger devs/companies learn how to use the Epic engine.

Psyonix was more of an Epic engine consulting company than anything.

All Iv'e seen is that they were contracted out by Epic since almost Psyonix's inception. When did they ever work at Epic, before acquisition?

Dave(Ceo of Psyonix) worked directly with Epic when developing the Onslaught mode for UT2004. Around when Editor's Choice edition was coming out Dave created Psyonix with some devs that had also worked on UT2004.

Psyonix even worked on UT3 and lots of other big games like Mass Effect.
