Random boosting

Haven't seen any threads on this, not sure if I'm the exception: my car will occassionally start boosting on its own - not particularly helpful in the middle of a match. Anyone else had the same problem or a suggestion on how to fix it? It's definitely not related to the controller, since it occurs both with the XB1 and the PS4 controller.

Perhaps it's the connection between the controllers and the computer. Maybe it lag receives the input.
I play with a controller myself and I've yet to encounter it so.

Tried two cables as well so it's not that, unless it's the socket. Just to point out though that the boosting doesn't happen with a delay, it occurs entirely on its own, without me ever pressing the boost button. Thanks for your input though!

If you go into Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Right click on your controller and go into Game Controller settings > Properties

There you will be able to see when a button is activated, so if you can, open Rocket League and see if when it randomly boosts if the button is being activated

Are you playing on a laptop with a track pad? Left click is boost by default and still registers in game even if you have a controller plugged in and most trackpads will register a quick touch as a left click. Have had that happen to me a few times if I don't remember to disable my pad while playing and brush it by accident.

sometimes when i play RL at work i will hit a lag spike and it will do that too me are you sometimes lagging?

Thanks for the comments everyone, I've tried being more careful with the trackpad and it seems ok now. Then again, it comes and goes so I'm not sure it's that - it'll show, I guess. Definitely not a spike lag, though, as when those happened I had only a momentary lack of control - this one is pronounced.

i have the same problem and i am not playing on a laptop. i think it started when steam changed the controller settings and i downloaded a profile for rocket league. tried 2 different ps4 controllers but no luck.
