Rocket League leaving Steam, going to Epic Store as F2P
https://www.rocketleague.com/news/rocket-league-going-free-to-play-this-summer/

Took a while for this since Epic bought the devs, but it is here. If you already have the game on Steam, you will keep it and you will not need the Epic launcher, but you must log in to an Epic account.

UPDATE
引用自 Psyonix_Corey
You will need an Epic Games Account to play on Steam. However, you don't have to create a full account with personal info like email & password. When you boot Rocket League, you'll be able to create a new account that's only associated with your Steam profile with one button press, no additional info/setup required. [...] Essentially, you end up with a "proxy" Epic Account that lets you use our services and is associated with your Steam profile, but doesn't know anything else about you (email, name, etc.). You can find an F.A.Q. about the upcoming changes here:

What do you mean?
EPIC bought out Psyonix, no partnership required when you just buy the company

Do you think that there's a chance that perhaps Rocket League will be back on Steam as a free game?
Nah no chance. Epic don't want to hand more players back to Steam lol. Epic want that market all to themselves. That's why they bought the devs so this move was inevitable. :BL3Shrug:

That's selfish. Instead of partnering with a bigger company and perhaps getting some sort of shout. They're so popular because of Fortnite which is still somewhat played, even though I don't know how much it's gonna last. I'm no company owner so, I don't know how stuff works.

Sad to see another perfectly good game ruined by free to play.

You mean Epic, free to play aint going to do much in a game such as this, unless you can also hack football with aimbots, then ill truly be suprised.

Well Psyonix didn't need to be bought out. With the massive success on Steam, the fan base it created and then on console too.... What? Where they struggling to improve the game? Needed even more millions? Yeah sure! It's just hilarious that RL has got worse in certain important area's and stay the same in others (which needed improving) since Epic took over lol. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
But Epic just dangled the sack with a $ sign on it and they snapped it up like a shot without a seconds thought to the fans with things like this f2p bs.
It's not selfish per se. It's just Epic being Epic and them wanting the pc platform all to themselves and toppling Steam in the process. It's business. They don't care about or show any thought towards fans. Like most of the industry. Money is all that matters at the end of the day. And because Epic are so rich, they can throw money about like lords of old throwing money to the peasants. :BL3Shrug:

Wow when you think it couldn't get worse for this crappy game!
If it's so crappy then why do you play it? And if you don't play it then why do you even care? lmao

Charging people to play stops a variety of undesirable behaviors such as making infinite numbers of free accounts to host bots, to attempt to cheat, or intentionally attempt to cause havoc on the servers. I can already envision denial of service attacks where people make bots that just queue up for ranked then cancel over and over. Everyone else that would end up matched with those players will be practically unable to play because every match will end up cancelled due to a player leaving.

I'm sure someone can figure out a way to cheat when they are allowed to try with an infinite number of free accounts until they manage to succeed.

Why would someone do that, in Rocket League, there is no real reason, even for annoyment it doesn't seem like worthwhile investement, unlike in something like CS GO where that player would indeed want to get on your nerves, but Rocket League? And to a count where it would literraly bother majority, is unrealisitc. Its a point, ill give it that, but i don't think it would be as severe as in other games.

This is not an epic gamer move. I wish that they would've left it on Steam aswell.

lets be real. the only reason this game is going f2p is because they want to sell 20 dollar skins.
they are milking it. and because of fortnight they can get it. little kids are easy to play for cash.
making money 101

It also makes the game accessable for fresh people.

Who cares? 5 year old game if not older going f2p.

You're litterally going to get the same RL experience you had for those 5 years.

If a player leaves or cant connect, (Which happens alot just fyi allready).

More players with good connections = less probabillity of that happening btw.
