New players do not have the same perspective old players have.
The game is damaged and horrible. Ranks are terribly uneven and pointless. Plenty of GC stuck in Diamond (the worst rank ever). Epic bought the game and brought all the fortnite kids here. The problem with all these little kids running rampant in the game is the crap playstyles. Most people in this game can only chase, deprive, demo, and play like a nerd. Fact of the matter is the game used to take skill. People respected eachothers space and left it up for skill. Now games come down to RNG because people literally force 50s nonstop and wannabe dribble 1v3 in 3s all day. People try so hard to get better but unaware they do not pay attention to rotation, iq, and positioning but pay attention to mechanics, fakes, and deprive/demo. Its terrible. Not only are actually good players challenged by having to carry terrible teammates, you play against unranked gcs in diamond/champ all day. Boosting has been ruining the game forever and never been fixed. Another thing that goes to show that they have let this game go is that they have never NEVER NEVER even tried to fix joining a game only to see a player "reserved" and the game never start. Still happens dozen times a day. Not to mention the lag and ghost hits are more apparent than ever.

All this while a 2million dollar prize pool is handed out every season and there are easily over a million online players. I mean what competitive game with over 1million players ranking system is so broken/rigged? You have gcs and bronze kids playing together in diamond. Its a complete joke.

This games MMR system is designed to suck the soul out of you and take countless hours from you without rewarding you the slightest. The only people that can manage to push to GC are people with healthy mentalities that can sit there match in match out and carry there teammates. Its not about playing slightly better to get your rank up over time. Its literally carry the dumpsters the MMR system hands you. The way its designed is to keep you in the same rank for as long as possible. Every other game you get a good/bad teammate and it constantly swaps out. Or maybe three good teammates then three bad teammates.

I am officially done giving a crap about this game. But it doesnt matter, it doesnt matter that plenty of long time players and smart people are saying the same things. Why? Because epic bought the game and ruined it just like all there other games. And they still get to keep all the money they made after switching to blueprints which were a complete joke. Literally from fortnite to rocket league, 20 bucks for a single skin. '

Lastly, even though epic manipulates player bases and people who spend tons of money of cosmetics, they will still not hesitate to take someone to court for cheating or stealing from them. EVEN THOUGH THEY MAKE MILLIONS EVERY YEAR. They are a pathetic company who will go after a 10 year old for cheating. WAIT ACTUALLY HE WAS 14, EPIC GAMES ACTUALLY BROUGHT A 14 YEAR OLD KID TO COURT. LOL. And this is what is wrong with the world in the nutshell, except on a video game. I hope somehow this message gets to all the creators and head honchos in charge of running all the crap I just complained about.

But even if they do , there feelings wont be hurt that they cannot produce actually good content rather than milk successful "business models".

I encourage everyone who is addicted to RL to try to get there ranks up to realize how much time this game actually cost you, and that you will not be rewarded. Find any other game, trust me after putting 1k+ hours in.

I know its a just a game but you can say this about anything? Its just baseball, its just a job, its just collecting, etc. Its a game people take seriously to play competitively. Not me, but some people are probably still playing catch up and trying to go pro. Its not just a game to them? Its just an excuse to discount any seriousness. Even if its just a game, its a game many people have spent a lot of money on and played for years.

The last thing they need to focus on is cheating/boosting and just fixing all the above mentioned. But Idc what they do at this point, my whole point for this rant is to help other realize things before its too late and they spent way too much time like me, and also for devs to see this and realize they're greedy heartless people.

What are you on about. The game takes the same skill now it did 2 years ago. There have been zero changes in mechanics or gameplay.

Just mute the chat like I've done for over a year now and play the game. You're probably tilting and that's your main issue.

Because ranks and how the mmr system gets influenced by 3rd parties overtime?
Because bugs and issues dont come up that need fixing overtime?
Actually the problem is that they havnt changed with time and the new playerbase/rank reset etc.

Personally I was champ 1 a year and a half ago and now im losing in diamond 2 because people are trash. Except when I made a new account I placed into champ 3 in singles after 13-20 games.

Sometimes I push to champ 2 or champ 3 and ive got a couple wins in GC but then due to bad luck or just losing I get pushed down to champ 1 and then to me thats when your teammates become incompetent. Diamond 1 2 3 and c1 are all mixed bags of random players.

Either way Ive played A TON and have observed whats happening. Rigged MMR, boosted players, playing gcs to win a d2 game, ghost hits lag. Its endless crap nowadays.

Like I said above, if i had a perfect mentality I could probably carry my teammates and hit GC one day. But my mindset will never let me be able to deal with incompetent dumb people at ranks they dont belong to reach it. And I admit that. But its also the broken MMR system with Gcs in every rank and bronze kids in that same rank that becomes unbearable. I mean like I said, over 1 million active players and diamond is a mixed bag of GCS and bronze players. Haha right bro.

Also peoples playstyles change overtime and now people are more toxic and trash. Most people sit behind the ball and force 50s or just focus on demos/depriving. It wasn't always like that but the mixed ranks allow this to happen. Two real champs wont lose to that crap but a real champ and a plat will.

No, but the influx of people put all the plats and diamonds at higher divisions/ranks then they should at the SAME TIME they did a reset that put players 2 entire ranks below what they were even if they won half there games. Now theres this mixed bag in diamond. Its a complete screw up.

I have to agree. I've been playing since launch on PS4 and switched to PC in 2016. This has been the worst two season I've ever experienced in Rocket League. It is impossible to get out of Diamond as a solo-queue anymore. I'm fortunate enough to have a group I'll be playing with regularly now that uni is back for the semester, but for those who don't have that as an option, my heart goes out to you.

Being dialed in is huge in this game. Usually I put it down for a while, jump back in, lose all or most of my placement matches, play at a lower level and be frustrated. Get back in the next day, Train and Workshop, then into competitive and grind. Then at some point when I'm about to lose hope I enter what I call the Zone. Suddenly I play on instinct without hesitation, my reflexes are tight, my consistency & accuracy is on point and as if by magic my team mates suck less. ( Go Figure )

From that point forward it's a steam roller back to Diamond.

I think the requirement of being dialed in to play at your correct level is the best explanation of why so many players appear to suck in relation to the rank they are appearing in.

Obviously there are other contributing factors, such as players being dragged up the ranks by superior Epic friends and then pushed out the plane without a parachute, hitting every team mate on their way down.

I totally agree with this. The F2P update started with the not so good new UI, new rank system, increased toxicity i.e Fortnite players, smurfs, boosted people. Trust me, if you ever decide to play ranked, it will be a lot harder because you have to deal with smurfs and boosted peeps, and triggered 10 year olds. It's not so easy to climb with the ranks anymore. And if you wanna still play this game for fun, just disable chat and queue casuals.

You have hit your plateau, at least for solo play. GC is not a destination like the ending of a video game with a story. Any ranked MP game will eventually see you treading water.

You say the problem is an influx of new players who don't know the fine points of the game... So f2p was a huge success, yes? After all, new players were constantly drawn in when the game was exclusive to Steam on PC, and yet you liked the game then.

It is, at heart, still a game. Most people are playing it to have fun and/or get rank rewards, not to be immaculate in their gameplay or reach the highest levels. Only a tiny percentage of people can possibly get there. And, you may hate to hear this, but all those ignorant players in your rank who are smashing 50/50s all the time and fail their dribbles? They're as good as you. You might play a more refined, smarter match but they win just as many of them.

If you want to only play with others who take the game very seriously, then you should take it seriously enough to form a team with some like-minded players. If you want to play solo, accept a bit of chaos and for God's sake relax.
