DEV CONFIRMED. Season 2 RANKING IS WIN/LOSS Based
I am tired of seeing people think that the ranking system has changed to individual points. It creates bad matches with everyone out for themselves.

THE MATCHMAKING SYSTEM IS STILL WIN/LOSS. THEY ONLY REMOVED THE ARTIFICAL RANK POINTS!!!

"Psyonix_Corey

Advancement in divisions is still skill rating (MMR) based. We removed the second set of points (Rank Points), but our skill algorithm (and every other modern skill algorithm) is still win/loss based. We are not modifying your skill based on any kind of match performance metrics.
We don't think the emphasis on rank point gain and losses from Season 1 meshed well with Rocket League's quick matches and "one more game" mentality. After all, tournaments are almost exclusively best of 3 or 5 series, but our rank points system created a lot of stress and frustration over losing a single match."

Quote from a dev.

Since people STILL think that the ranking is based of personal points I am bumping this.

Personal points dont matter. It is WIN/LOSS based. They do not modify anything from your match perfoamnce metrics.

Yes. If you leave or get disconnected and cant rejoin that will be a loss.
Cartire 14 fev. 2016 às 20:42
This isnt the issue.

Show us the points. If its skill based. Show us how much we dropped or climbed. Show us a checkpoint. Let us decide to make one last push at the end of the night to grab the next level.

Dont hide it from us.

I dont care if its not RP. If its MMR, it should still have a value. Is that value increasing or decreasing? By how much? Did I just play an great player and win? OR did I just play a horrible person and lose? We could answer those questions if we saw a graph of how we play and how our skill changes.

Why hide that?

This is the one thing I don't like about Rocket League. If I score 4 goals in one game and I still lose the game because my teammates aren't any good, why should I lose a ton of rank points?

Rocket League is NOT a team game, unless you're playing with friends, or if you're lucky enough to get a skilled teammate who knows what he's doing. 80% of the time the players you get paired with in this game are braindead degenerates who always shoot everything and always hit every ball at 100% turbo speed. I played 2 hours of Rocket League today and I don't think I had more than 4 goals that were set up by another player. My point is that I think it's garbage that my rank can a lot of the times reflect not my own skill level, but the low skill level of others. It doesn't matter how many goals, saves, or assists you get in a losing effort, you just go down in the ranks.

They should balance the rank system so that it takes both win/loss and some individual stats into account. Look at the player's goals per game ratio, their win ratio, their assists per game ratio. I think that a person that only wins 30% of their games but scores 3 goals a game should be the same rank as a person that wins 60% of their games but only has a 0.5 gpg ratio.

No. The person who wins 30% of their games is not skilled. End of story.

IMO it should be 50% win loss based and 50% based on your points in relation to everyone else.

Doesn't make sense when I finish playing a match, I have 500 points, and everyone in my team has 50, and we lost 4-5 with me scoring 4 of the goals, yet I lose the same rank points as them.

It should reward team play but not punish skilled people because the matchmaking didn't work that time. That just forces people to group up with friends because the matchmaking is totally unreliable.

You can tell if you played a great player and won or a horrible person and lost. In the previous season you could not tell that. Now you get to see their rank after the match.

The really good players still rise to the top. A few matches you may get someone playing bad or just a bad player but over the LONG TERM it balances out. If you are as skiled as you think you are, you will rise in the ranks. It really is that simple.

I too would like to see match history listed somewhere though.

The issue with having in game points matter is a lot times good play is not scored, and bad play is rewarded with points. In my team I am the defender and most games I will be lower than my teamates. Yet many time I am actually the MVP of the match. My blocks and clears that dont get counted are just as important as the goals that were scored. My teammates understand that and they appreciate my play. But many times in random pick up games I will have the lower score and be berated by the guy that just chased the ball for all the points.

umm it is a teamgame. if ranking was based off of individual score, no one would even want to play mid. nobody would care about winning, theyd just try to score points.

Which, ironically, would exacerbate the OP's complaint regarding his random team mates not assisting his goals.
The whole argument for points in game awarding skill levels to reduce the impact of bad team mates is fundamentally flawed.

And this is why you are not a successful game dev.

This post is so full of wrong I don't even know where to begin.

While everything you said is pretty awful, I'll point out that your 30% win rate, scoring a few goals while refusing to work as a team, is why you have a 30% win rate.

You deserve your prospect rating.

Very insightful.

Care to explain what you were attempting to say, or are you just going to act like a 4 year old?

Good joke. I played now 3vs3.
2x semi-pro + master ( they were the second team )
1st - 36hrs and rank all star ( end round score 100 )
2nd - 56hrs!!! and rank rising star ( end round score 60 )
3rd was master with challenger 2
We won 7:1

If its again based on wins/losses, where they took these ranks????
Lucky and played first matches with great players? Trolling with reset stats? I dont think so because 36 and 56hrs and s-pro. I play random 3vs3 ranked only and its the same story as season 1. Absolutely fail each game. 90% matches is lost, so why I am still the same rank ( average points in matches 500 ). I would be demoted........ and im not ( sry for EN )
