Rocket League 2
Many games have pushed out sequels recently, namely Counter-strike (2) and Overwatch (2), maybe a couple other titles too.

Has there been any pieces of information if Rocket League 2 is happening in the future? Graphical updates, audio improvements, cool new content etc. would be great.

Would you like to see Rocket League 2?

if rocket league 2 is getting made, it will be merged with fortnite as rocket league racing is getting ported to fortnite and with unreal engine 5

An RL 2 would not be made available on Steam. So it's utterly pointless discussing it on here.

Regardless, there's not much more you can add to the game that would justify a full release sequel. The game works fine in theory, but terrible in practice because of 1. Bad online matchmaking. When a game causes more conflict with your teammates on a regular basis than the opposing team, it's a bad game that deserves to fail. 2. Their absolutely dire decision to automate banning for unsportsmanlike conduct with no appeals process. Automation works fine for chat, but not for everything else. Griefers (and groups of griefers) can take full advantage of mass false reporting.

Epic should save their billions for something more meaningful and worthwhile. Not on a community as garbage as this.

I disagree with the first thing you said, not the Steam part, but it being pointless to discuss it here. You can definitely have an open speculative discussion about it here. It's a forum just like any other place.

Agreed not much more could be added to the game itself, unless it's more creative ways to make new modes. Other than that it could be just a bump up in graphics and audio, much like other titles have done.

Rest of your post is just pessimistic and grim off-topic. I'm not going there. Thanks for the input to the topic though, Persony Person.

Epic do love their Fortnite, don't they, hah. Jokes aside, I wouldn't mind Rocket League runningon Unreal Engine 5, sounds delicious.

No it isn't. If you can't even be bothered to even acknowledge the problems with the first one, then asking for a 2nd is just stupid. You're asking for a game that doesn't deserve to be created.

With how unoptimized Unreal Engine 5 is right now, I would bet that Rocket League 2 will run at 30-40 fps with occasional dips in most last gen spec like RTX 3060.

I don't thnk we need a sequel, tbh. We just needed better management system (and epic being the a-hole here)

Yeah I mean of course, it may not be very optimized, but improved graphics in general could be a cool and refreshing change, I think. Seeing CS and OW move to their improved sequels makes one dream I guess.

Interesting, even though not very unexpected, we have seen crossovers before, and this is quite different from standalone Rocket League since it's racing. Thanks for sharing this video

It's not just a crossover with epic made models. These are actual rl models, sounds and whatever else we don't see on clip. If they bought whole company for that, then it will be propably longer than one month thing.

Yes sure, I can see that. They basically "own" Psyonix as their publisher on PC since RL is exclusively on Epic client. It seems to me that they are testing waters. Epic is such a huge company that they can do big money tests, and they always put so much work into those things, even if they are "just crossovers". Purely this is all just speculation and I could be totally wrong and we will see the future of RL being integrated to Fortnite moving on.

Personally I hope this is not the case for Rocket League, but at the same time, I wouldn't be too surprised honestly. It would be a shame.

As for info: All of the customisation items have apparently been ported from RL into this Fortnite/RL racing mode, which means that all car cosmetics are converted to UE5.

That might not seem like a big deal, but it really is. There's no reason for them to do it purely for a racing mode that might not even take off, so the fact that they've done it is an indication that the UE5 version of Rocket League is pretty close. In game design, the full range of skinned models is usually one of the last things to be completed, since it's low-priority for testing how well the game works.

Now this is the depth of information I was looking for! Interesting stuff, it does now sound like they really are moving to UE5 engine.

Core features such as game mechanics and networking definitely need to be in check before even thinking about porting assets.

This is serious stuff, we might be seeing Rocket League "Re-fueled" "Reborn" or "2" in the near future, if this information is confirmed in any capacity, leaked files or data mining maybe? Has epic or Psyonix talked about this anywhere? Either way, thanks for bringing this information with you.
