Was hoping to play on XBOX in my lounge (big low latency TV). Unfortunately you can't link XB to Steam, so you have to create an Epic account first and go through the linking stuff, then you can add the Xbox Live account to the link page. I've had it working in the past when I had a previous Epic account, all the inventory was there, Epic client worked on desktop, Xbox worked. When I linked this more recent account, at first I thought it was because it had put the Epic on primary which had no progress, but it was when I played in Steam I realised it was nuked.
I had hundreds of toppers, several Black Market wheels and wraps for the cars, seasons worth of stuff unlocked and all the trails. When I go into the Epic client there are literally 2 cars, about 4 toppers, 3 trails. If I log into Steam I see *some* of my old inventory such as the Takumi, but all the rare stuff is missing. If I looked up my stats it said 'highest rank achieved N/A' when it had been Diamond 3.
I actually had a long live chat with one of their support staff who was friendly enough, and he/she said 'switch Primary to Epic then back again after 24 hours and we'll see if that fixes it' that was days ago and it made no difference, I submitted a long screed to them in the email form which I can see is still Open in the support page. On Twitter I've reached out to them and it's dreadful canned replies ignoring what I literally post right above their reply.
What is annoying is I feel like if one of the big RLCS stars had this happen to their account, the support would be on it in 24hours and have fixed and rolled back their account, can you imagine one of those guys playing/streaming and all their stuff has been set back to a default new account. I feel like I'm on one of those phone lines 'Your call is important to us, You are currently number... 873 in the queue'
I still don't get it.
I would NEVER link my steam account to my epic account based solely on the fact that the inventory might get messed up since epic might have some bug, thinks it's a new account, and wipes my whole data. I would just make a new account, since the game is free.
Not only that, everybody knows epic is a trashy company which will probably have trashy support, and yet people keep sticking to them, only to then fill reddit, steam and other places with complaints.
ok. well. the world doesn't revolve around you. you're not the only player that could come across this post. the OP wrote it up as a warning to the general public. drrrrrrr
if its a anon-account or a account with info its don´t matter
and if you play on steam you also have this epic account linked to the steam account
I'll try to spare some time if you need some help to get your inventory back. If you do want my help, please add me, or if you don't, I'd assume that you gave up (for ex if you don't think that this worth your effort) or done with the game.
Lemme know.

Personal Note: I'm not an epic/psyonix employee neither moderators but just wanna help.
I've done all the right things this week in reaching out to Epic/Psyonix, and they're either a) ignoring me or b) giving me scripted replies no matter what I tell them I've already done. The support clearly doesn't exist. Be wary of spending money on Rocket League it's clearly on borrowed time.
So how many epic accounts you actually shuffling between? because I never had a problem with epic linking stuff yet I never actually shuffling between linking different epic accounts to steam or ps. I have a feeling you messed something up during the process and now blaming epic for it.
And I'm not saying their system is good, I actually assume is god awful, that's why I would never try to mess with this stuff. Sometimes it's good to use common sense and assume if something might go south - it probably will, so avoiding forcing yourself into such situations is best you can do.
Thanks for your patronising advice, but if Epic's system cannot unlink from ONE Epic account, then at a later date link to a NEW Epic account, then the problem is on the mountain-dew swilling coders who make the game, not the users. It's not Rocket science. My progress is in my Steam account, I only ever played it on Steam because the Epic client is laggy and doesn't show user pictures either. I deleted a linked Epic account which was the secondary, and months later had to create a new Epic account to play Rocket League and this has damaged my Steam progress and inventory.
I know exactly which account I linked it to because I had no others, I did exactly as their instructions say. My progress is all in my Steam account. On this new linked Epic account, if I set that primary I see no items, if I set the Steam to primary I see a portion of my inventory, which proves it's the real account as nobody would randomly have these items. It is however missing more than 2/3 of the items, and it also said I had no history of rank on the account, until new games I played this week.
It's pretty simple, their system is not robust, has errors, and to make it all worse they don't appear to have functional support. Hence my warning about about spending money with them
