Please help me understand Tournament Ranks

I'm trying to get the Best of the Bunch achievement for 100% completion, but it's impossible for me to be the MVP in a Tournament match.

Long story short, I'm a ♥♥♥♥ player who's stuck in Diamond Tournament Rank. I assume this is because last season, I was playing Competitive 2v2 with a very high skilled friend who somehow pushed me into Diamond. I wasn't looking to get carried, I just wanted to play with a friend over the summer. I haven't played a single Competitive placement game since the current season began, and I only enter tournaments for a chance at this achievement. Though I try my best to contribute, it's clear that I don't belong in Diamond and I feel terrible for my teammates who suffer because of me. It sucks because I feel like I'm part of the problem of reverse smurfs (no idea what the term for my kind is) that I see other players complain about in these threads :(

I want to get a more realistic Tournament Rank, but I have no idea how this ranking system works. If I play my Competitive placement matches for this season, where I should place in either Gold or Platinum, will my tournament rank immediately update to reflect my new skill group? Do I have to wait until next season for it to update? Or something else entirely?

Please explain what I need to do to drop into a lower elo. I'm not looking to reverse boost, I just want fairer matchmaking that reflects my poor individual skill level, so that I can get this achievement and go back to Casual where I belong and stop ruining Tournaments for my team :(

just throw every match and you will derank in no time, you can not get reported for griefing in tournament matches neither can you get kicked for being idle, it can not be simpler that's why there is so many trolls and afkers

That's happen to me too in 3vs3 ranked it's annoying.

funny the opposite happend to me this season. was diamond, got placed to gold, welp, free smurfing ;)
