The state of the game in 2023
This sort of game doesn't appear that often, a game with a huge following, a game with a good, satisfying flow, a game that can easily get players addicted to it, a game that combines speed, strategy and accuracy... A very good game overall...

And yet here comes Epic Games... A numbers based-company...

How the hell do you let the game get infested with so many smurfs? How? How do you now give a single ounce of care to the state of the game, how do you just kick it to the sidelines like it's some sort of low player-base, unknown game? How?

How do i start a session, currently at GC1/GC2, and the 10 matches that i did, only one was with legit, non-smurf players?

Rocket League is not the most popular game on earth but it sure as hell deserved more... More than being abandoned...

I cannot believe how bad the smurf situation has gotten in Rocket League... It's just mind blowing to be honest... Like holy hell. How do you care so little about a game like this?

If only Valve had acquired this game and not Epic, if only...

Why do you think it would be any different if Valve acquired it? I bought CS:GO and Valve made that free 2 play afterwards just the same as Epic made this one free 2 play.

ever since the epic takeover, 100% of dev focus has been on the store and rocket passes, epic and psyonix only care about milking the playerbase, that's it.

CSGO has prime, so that at least stops some of the smurfs, won't stop all of them, but makes it harder and more expensive for them

how do you expect to get better at any game if you dont play with better players? You'd be stuck in ur rank forever if you dont play with better players so that you can learn

From forcing us to file out an epic games profile to supporting BLM the developers really dont give af.

Originally spyonix said joining with epic was for the players, literally just for players. Epic games is a massive company with a history of anti consumer buisness moves. The Launcher sucks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass, You cant get DLCs from before. Epic games ruined the game, there's no other way to put it. The way they take over the market is scary, they ruin everything with their influence. The "ideal platform" they attempted to create was ♥♥♥♥ ever since the beginning. The way they force everyone onto their platform makes me sick, they ruin and kill games just to try an advertise their platform. Also the fact that epic forces you to make an epic account is stupid. they added a ♥♥♥♥ ton of micro-transactions and ruined the game for me. Remember when cars were just $1.99? not anymore its behind a 20 dollar ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall and a battlepass if you want a cool car. "do you want to get the premium pass to get more levels?" NO I JUST WANT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CAR

There's no way you're this dense.
It's one thing for the game to put you up against better players when you're about to rank up, because these better players belong to the same rank threshold that you're in.
It's another, completely different, thing to play against top tier smurfs, who will not let you touch the ball due to speed, reaction and mechanics differences.

When Rocket League came out, the % of smurfs was near 0. How exactly did people get better, and eventually some became pros, without playing against smurfs?

lmao, the smurf % was never near 0, EVER. And of course theirs more smurfs now, between what 3, 4 consoles and making the game free, it's really just easier to smurf now. You just gotta remember their smurfing because they can't hack it most of the time in their actual class bracket so they need to stroke their little egos to make themselves feel better and put other people down in the process. It's the same reason people cheat at other games, because they aren't that good where they actually belong skill wise, because there is always someone faster, stronger, smarter, better. It says more about them than anything else.

When the game came out, the only people that "knew" how to play was the players from SARPBC, and i'm pretty sure they were not smurfing as most of them were trying to start a stream channel and grow an audience.

So i'll say it again, when the game came out, the % of smurfs was near 0.

One of the first Rocket League videos I ever watched was from a series of youtube videos by Gibbs called Playing with Potatoes. He was a grand champion player beating down silver and gold players with his smurf account just to show he could get up to grand champion again from scratch. He was handicapping himself by not jumping to give them a chance, but obviously silver and gold players players miss the ball like 75% of the time, 50% of the time they do hit it they just hit it straight up into the air or backwards, and then 80% of the time that they do hit fowarwards they can't manage to aim it at the goal so this was not enough. That video was recorded in Oct 2015. There's always been this sort of content since the very first days of Rocket League.

sorry for cutting some of your paragraph out but you need to say it louder for people in the back.

its so annoying how people defend them like "well they give tips" "they arent all bad thier HANDICAPPED" I remember when some youtubers and viewers were mad when psyonix said in a tweet "yo can yall not openly admit to cheating...can yall stop posting that" even til this day its still the same excuse.

I always knew epic would destroy the game
jay.bob.82 Sep 10, 2023 @ 3:44am
new player here...joined mid season 11. when i first started playing i was hooked but it seems i was hooked as i didnt really know how to play properly. now i have a better understanding of how to play it seems i get matched up with players who always quit as soon as they are a goal down or the opposite i get teamed with players who just mindlessly ball chase for 5 mins ramming their own team off the ball and having no clue about tactics... you cant report players for quitting out or rate the way they play. this is slowly making me want to stop playing and find a less toxic game/community to play with.

If your team votes to forfeit when you are down by only one goal frequently then you may be doing things that provoke this like missing the ball when you are wide open allowing the other team to score immediately on your goal, hitting the ball constantly when you are not prepared and in position to make a solid hit on it and just ending up lobbing it right in front of your own goal for the other team to score, not covering defense when it is your turn because the previous defender had to go out of position due to having to clear the ball or contest a shot, or ramming other players on your team that are are in the proper position to defend out of the way causing the other team to score.

Thats because CS:GO doesnt induldge you into a sunk cost fallacy and puts in a battle pass system. Rocket league is a game that requires you to keep playing the game in order to progress, spending hundreds of hours training. It combines the microtransations with this idea if you take a break, youl miss out. Already on top of the fact taking a break makes you worse at the game, its a game thats been taken advantage of and making you feel scared to leave the game.
