I'm about the skill level you are.
50/50 at about 80%
Basic arial competence.
Decent ball awareness and prediction.
Understanding of basic rotation and kickoff.
Heck I even have decent shadow defense.
I'm trash off the wall though... really need to work on that...
Same complaints you have...no understanding how these guys get these tournament trophies and make it to such ranks the way they play...
My only theory is that ball chasers inevitably score...and if you chase long enough...well...
Now I just go with it...I let my 2 "teammates" chase and I play defense as best as I can (I'm decent at it and can even defend against 2 chasers)...
I play fast...if I'm in the flow state I can usually drive the ball and literally drop it in front of the goal...I make a lot of people look good by basically setting up "just bonk it in" assists to my "teamchasers" it's a thankless job that and always defending.
With the above being said... believe it or not being substantially more competent than your teammates can throw off a match completely against your favor...
If you're the only one on your team playing fast and the opposition can match that speed... you're getting wrecked because you'll find yourself in a 3 v 1 scenario. I've noticed at least 70% of players the same tier as me (plat 3 - diamond 2) are used to playing quite slow...so speeding up the match can work against your favor... I've learned to match the speed of my teammates...
Eh... shouting into the void...lol
Playing with randoms - you have to accept some things.
In a fast game you cant always tell if your TM is going up for the ball or going in for a challenge as you dont have time to look.
Therefore things like double commits happen often.
You can drop the ball down perfectly infront of net only to realise they are still back on your own goal line.
By the time you get used to their playstyle its already the end of the game.
I therefore try to play ballchasey often. It makes it obvious to my teammate what my intentions are for the game, and it seems to work better than to actually try to play intelligently.
If I attempt any passing play whatsoever I can guarantee my TM isnt expecting it.
Oh and just incase someone hasn't said it already.... If you keep comming across these issues then its probably not them, its probably you.
Or atleast something like that happens to me sometimes when i am thinking to myself that why my mate keeps doing so poorly and such stupid decisions and all of sudden he shoots messages blaming me for everything.
If there are two equally close to the ball, they both should go for it (hit it from an angle that acknowledges that both of you will be hitting it) or inform the other to take the shot.
If you're in the goalie position, you should only go for boost after watching the kickoff and opposing players to determine that's safe.
It's mind-boggling how crazy stupid many people are that are playing this game. I often try to contemplate about if they are just trolling constantly or if they really are that stupid. Because somehow they are worse than the bots and the bots are just pure trash.
My experience from bronze to champ is that the intelligence level is almost equal in between these ranks, bronze players make the same stupid mistakes as champs do - no rotation, always chase ball, doesn't know where teammates or opponents are, never pass, never ready for passes, camps goal, moves slowly at all times except when it's too late, etc.. You can pretty much go on forever about all the stupid bullcrap that will happen.
And by the way, yes I only play solo 3v3 since I cannot find any decent people out there. When the game was still for sale on steam I tried the steam forums, looking for somebody that doesn't play like a faulty bot - I only got more faulty bots even though they claim the same problems as I do. Like, don't complain about rotation if you don't have any understanding of a rotation scheme yourself.
So after that I just gave up, people are either steam rollers or worse than bots..
Alright, I'm an addict to the game but the community is in worse shape than it ever has been. I'll head off to play some more games in gold, I enjoy watching my teammates chase the same situations over and over again without any rotation. This is at least nine out of ten games for me.
it's just over for games online honestly every mongoloid has access to a pc and free games they don't feel themselves
remember when this game released and absolutely nobody cared? the only thing that saved it from becoming yet another bust, was sony's ps plus and the devs were hesitant to consider it at first...
now just take a look at the history of qol updates and how long it took this company, to add basic stuff. it took them years to add transparent goal-posts and the hilarious part about it, is the fact that they are not fully transparent on every map lol.
in the end, this game isn't worth it anymore. every match is dominated - or ruined - by smurfs and the bots they carry.
This game had a bad community even before epic. Epic & f2p was just the final nail in the coffin.
I just "enjoy" the game nowadays as blasting music and getting amazed at how stupid and selfish people are - There is no true competitiveness and there is absolutely no sportsmanship. I can do about one hour at the time then I have to switch to something else because these fools induces actual headaches.
