How to link a different Epic Games account?
Hi, when I first started playing RL I didn't have an Epic Games account and if I remember correctly one was not needed back then. Then Epic bought Psyonix and the game prompted you to sign in to an account, or gave you the option to just create one with a random name. That's what I chose. Now I have an Epic Games account, and haven't found the option to change the account that is linked to the game. Is this possible or am I stuck with the "dummy" account that was created for me? Also, if it is possible to change it, does my rank and cosmetics transfer to the new one or not?

Full Epic Games account is still not required.
It's mainly needed for player trading and sharing some dlcs/items from other connected platforms like Epic or console accounts.

If you want connect Steam to full Epic Games account then you need to upgrade to full Epic account through your Steam account. Skip step 1 and follow other steps here :
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/rocket-league-c182/basics-c190/how-do-i-link-a-rocket-league-platform-account-that-has-already-been-associated-with-another-epic-games-account-a10329

Then keep that Epic account or unlink and link it to existing Epic account you want. And just make sure you will choose correct Primary Platform.
Maybe same for other platforms you have if they are not connected to Epic you want.

Rank, XP Level and Rocket Pass progress are tied to Primary Platform so I assume you should set it on Steam and keep it like that if you played only on Steam.
Items are tied to platform but some can be shared.

Thanks for the answer! This however hasn't solved my issue... seems like I at some point upgraded the account and can normally sign in to it. However since I don't use it anywhere, would it be possible to transfer my data from that account to my main Epic account? I see the option for linking and unlinking Steam on both of them, however if the save data is not stored on Steam linking my main Epic account to Steam wouldn't work.

Okay, sorry, it looked like you didn't have upgraded to full Epic account.

You can unlink Steam from current Epic account, you won't lose Steam progress - Steam progress just won't be available on Epic if you unlink.
After unlinking you can link Steam to other Epic Games account where this progress will be shared.
