Massive FPS lag with Xbox One controller
Hi guys,

Got a very nice development rig, and have never had any issues with Rocket League before today.

As thread title says; Whenever I use my xbox one controller (have it plugged in during a match), my fps in Rocket League drops down to betweek 1-15 making the game unplayable.

NOTE: ALSO HAPPENS WITH 360 CONTROLLER.

I updated the firmware on my controller to see if that resolved the issue, no luck. I updated, and reverted back to an older version of display drivers to see if that fixed it, no luck again.

At this point I'm 100% sure its only caused when I have my Xbox One controller plugged in, and I'm out of things to try to fix this. Lowering graphic settings make zero difference in FPS (and again, I have a really nice game development rig, and every other game runs perfectly fine, so that is NOT the issue).

As soon as I disconnect the controller, the lag goes away. Plug it back in, and FPS ♥♥♥♥ storm galore.

i7 3.8ghz processor, 32 gigs of ram, r 290 radeon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

me too man...
Thank Microsoft for that. Was a recent update to Xbox One controller drivers which causes this.

It's not even fixed in the latest Insider build as well.

Yeah, I'm running the latest insider build. Thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Well, guess I won't be playing RL with a controller until they fix it.
Having a ton of FPS drop problems with a PS4 controller today too, only thing new I've done was get a Steam Controller which is not being used currently *(turned off, and not being played in BPM)

Game is literally unplayable.
With the xbox controller, in task manager see if a process called xboxstat is running, and then close it. I found it took up 50% of my cpu and it doesn't do anything, so it's safe to stop.
I use an xbox one white controller from my local walmart, and i experiance no problems with FPS at all. Im not sure why a controller would mess with the frame rate. that is interesting. If i soon experiance any problems with my controller ill post back here. sorry for your troubles.

Just don't let Windows 10 update otherwise say hello to the same issues.
anyone found any fix for this? i redownload rl after months of not playing and encountered with this, my specs arent too good but before this controller lag spike i could get 55+fps with almost everything maxed out, my controller is a generic running with x360ce but i've never had a problem with it :steamsad:
In case anyone still has this issue, the answer is to remove the "Voice Chat" keybinding for the controller. Options -> Controls -> Change key bindings and click the cross on "Voice Chat" to remove it.

Give the guy here credit: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/a4na55/xbox_controller_causing_pc_to_lag_rocket_league/

He also says disable XBOX DVR but I didn't need to do that for it to work.

this is so dumb honestly, anyone knows when this is going to get fixed? Just bought a new pc with amazing specs, switched up to xbox to pc and can't even play without the game getting choppy. The lags starts right when I move or touch my controller. My friend got a PS4 controller and it doesn't have any problems. Is it cause of the new Xbox drivers???
