Lag Switching/Hacking?
Is this a type of hack that is currently being exploited. See this video: https://youtu.be/Ex_UcJLVTWs

5-6/7 of the times I lagged were directly beneficial to my opponent. Either this is extremely bad luck, or there is an exploit here

hmm..I cant really see how your opponent can actively force you to lag, since all data traffic goes through a game server before it reaches you and the game actively tries to predict where the ball is going should lag occur.

Does ofc seem extremely unfortunate that your game lags right at those times, but until you actually have a repeat thing going on, it's imo difficult to do anything but shrug and say..bad luck in that one game

Some of those are really fishy. I doubt that people can make a lag switch for this game, but I really have no idea.

You're speaking about lag like you are used to it anyway.
Do you get it regularly?

I don;t normally get much lag. If I do it is just at the start of the match. Here is a link to the full version: https://youtu.be/cvhC4xNIQkk

So loading a match and when the ball is about to get hit is when you lag?
That's when the games resources are most taxing in your system.
What are the specs of your PC?

Just watched the whole game...
The guy makes a joke about cheating, after you call him out, so you report him? :steamfacepalm:
What if I told you that most of us don't experience this at all?... Not even once.
You have it somewhere on your ISP/LAN Cable/WiFi/PC/Modem/Router. It has nothing to do with Rocket League or the other players.

I have a 7870 ghz edition and a pentium g3420. It runs the game extremely easily. I normally don't lag at all (where it disconnects and shows the symbol). I didn't lag in any of my other matches that day even with a higher ping. That is why I was worried about cheating. Plus if you look at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/3durxr/possible_cheating_by_pc_player_in_rocket_league
you can see that there are cheats out there and the response psynoix gives doesn't really explain how the game is being exploited. It may have just been an unfortunate case of lag happening for an extremely short amount of time and only when my oponent benefitted, but that seems a little unlikely.

Very unfortunate lag spikes, wich makes it suspicious ofcourse. When I'm on wifi I get some of these lag spikes. could be ur wifi or internet provider perhaps ?

That was 9 months ago and was fixed. It was a 'teleport to ball' hack, they sniffed it out and patched it.
You just dropped a heap of packets. Sort your stuff out.

I'm glad to hear that that one was fixed. I may be being a bit harsh about this, I just had never experienced lag like this that seemed so deliberate. I just wanted to document it incase other instances of this happen and it turns out the game has been exploited in some way. Thanks for looking at this and sharing what you know.

Let's take a look at some key moments in the match where a lag switch would have been beneficial to the opponent.

At 0:18 the opponent is stuck in your goal while you are trying to hit the ball towards his goal. Lag occurs, which is the first instance of lag benefitting the opponent.

At 0:23 you take a shot at his goal, and no lag occurs.

At 0:43 you take a direct shot at his goal, but no lag occurs.

At 1:04, he takes a shot at your goal, and no lag occurs to prevent you from making a save.

At 1:19 we see lag occur during a replay, which does not benefit anyone

At 1:30 he takes a shot at your goal and scores, and no lag occured to prevent you from blocking the shot.

At 1:52 you take a shot at his goal and score, and no lag occurs to prevent you from scoring.

At 2:18 a lag spike occurs that prevents you from saving a shot. This is the second lag spike that is beneficial to the opponent.

At 2:40 you take a shot at this goal and score. No lag occured to prevent you from scoring.

At 3:17 you have a chance to score, and lag occurs, preventing you from taking a shot. This is the third lag spike that is beneficial to the opponent.

At 3:36 you hit the ball to make a save. No lag occured, even though it would have allowed the opponent to score easily.

At 3:46 you tried to make a save, but the opponent scores. No lag occurs, even though it would have been beneficial to the opponent.

At 4:16 you take a shot at the opponents goal, but no lag occurs to prevent that.

At 4:51 you take a shot and score. No lag occurs to prevent this.

At 5:17 you are trying to block a shot, but are prevented from doing so by a lag spike. This is the fourth lag spike that is beneficial to the opponent.

At 6:01 you set up a shot and score. No lag occurs to prevent this.

At 6:16 you report the opponent for cheating. This may be a little premature, but it seems warranted.

At 6:36 the opponent takes a shot and scores. No lag occurs to prevent you from blocking the shot.

At 6:50 you set up a shot and score. No lag occurs to prevent this.

At 7:19 a lag spike occurs that allows the opponent to hit the ball. This is the fifth lag spike that is beneficial to the opponent, albeit less clearly.

At 7:41 you are in a position to score, but no lag occurs to prevent this.

At 7:48 the opponent is setting up a shot, but no lag occurs to stop you from defending.

At 8:03 the opponent sets up a shot, but no lag occurs to stop you from defending.

At 8:19 the final lag spike occurs, right before the end of the match. Whether this was beneficial to the opponent or not is unclear due to the camera angle, but it seems likely.

So in conclusion: there were many instances were no lag occured during instances where it could have been beneficial to the opponent. However, most lag spikes that did occur benefitted the opponent in some way. No lag spikes occured that gave you an advantage. While it could be coincidence, it is a little fishy.
You're right, there were quite a few instances it could've been used (if this was deliberate and possible) that it wasn't. I really don't know what to think, but at least now if someone else sees something like this and searches for it they might come across this thread. Thanks for looking through it and contributing.

this ♥♥♥♥ has been happening to me a couple of games not, and my ping sometimes is even below the 32, like 26, or idle at 12. my pc, GTX 780 SC, I7 4770K, 16Gb of ram running on an SSD, sorrym but its not my pc that is causing lags. i have been getting these mostly in 3v3s though. and in 1 game where i pionted it out, 1 guy on the opposing team insta left game.
starting to get fed up with the lag on the severs i have had my line checked 3 times by my ISP.. and there is no issues, seems when im playing RL. i lag out. i am positive i am playing with hackers. and its really crap because almost every 2nd person is useing some kind of lag switch. it just a bit odd when you can be 2 -0 and then get lagged out every time you for a goal and complte the match 2-9,
SmugNeko Mar 3, 2017 @ 8:45pm
is your lag situation better if you disable cross platform play? I am starting to think it is, but wonder if others feel the same (it is frustrating to test sometimes because I mostly play at night and it can take a long time to fill a game)
