Win or lose it's generally said out of respect for the other team.
If you're getting salty over someone saying GG then you need to reevaluate.
-IRL usually is used as "In real life" so that's the expect meaning.
-Most users are males, then I tend to assume everyone is, until told otherwise.
I hope it is clear :P
Regardless if you win or lose saying Good Game (GG) is apriopriate thing to say.
I say GG even if I LOSE 6 to 0 or more. Its states that the other team did a good job and you respect that.
*Note I notice you are from Germany, or so your profile says. Saying GG is a Wester and Eastern mentality that is in effect to save face.
