How do i play co op ai with a friend?

it just starts the game without me. im still in the party but in the main menu.

Tell them to set 'Joinable by:' to 'Party only'.

get into a party (theres a button at the side of your level for that) > create a private online match 2v2 with bots

Do you have certain regions disabled? Ask your friend what region they've selected in the private match settings and make sure you have that region enabled in your matchmaking settings.
