Game won't run in full screen

As the title says, I can run the game in windowed mode fine with the -windowed parameter, but if I try to start the game in full screen, or switch to full screen in-game, the screen goes black and then i get dumped back to the desktop, BUT the game doesn't crash - it's still running. And any time I try to switch back to the game, the screen turns black and dumps me back to the desktop again. Any suggestions on how I can get full screen working again?

I should mention I'm running the latest nvidia drivers, I've tried verifying the game cache in steam (it found 158 corrupt files, but after fixing that I still get the same problem) and I have tried repairing DX9.

You may need to reinstall Rocket League, or a complete uninstall and reinstall of your GPU drivers by using DDU
