XBox 360 Controller Keeps Disconnecting
I'm using a wireless xbox 360 controller and my controller keeps disconnecting during gameplay.
Yesterday I started playing and I was having the problem at first but after continuous attempts it started working but today I've been trying all day and am unable to fix it.

My problem occurs ONLY when I:
Am in a Rocket League match (online/training/etc.)
Press either A or B on my controller

Once I press A or B then my controller instantly turns off, other than that it works fine. In the menu I can select things, I can customize my car fine etc. just when in a match and I press A or B my controller disconnects instantly (X, Y, triggers work fine without disconnecting). It's a strange problem and some help to narrow down the problem could help.

Are you using an original receiver or a knock-off?

Original receiver from EB games. I just played a whole match of Left 4 Dead 2 and 0 problems while using my xbox 360 controller. I think it's some sort of bug in Rocket League.

Any fix for this? I too just started having this issue. I moved a few days ago and had not played for just over a week. Now that I set everything up again with my desk and PC I'm having this issue...very odd.

At first I thought it was the batteries, but I've since charged them all and the same thing keeps happening.

Yeah I managed to fix it by replacing the batteries. Every time my controller vibrated it turned off, that's what the problem was and the vibration was using too much power causing the controller to turn off (from low batteries).

I suggest instead of just charging , try completely switching out your batteries and see if it works?...

I was having this same exact problem playing rocket league. until I verified dirty bomb (thank God for dirty bomb) and it told me that my steam overlay was turned off in the steam settings. (My problem was my controller would just cut out for no reason at any time it seemed fit and I couldn't button map my controller.). If you need to know how to turn it on put your steam app on your toolbar and right click your mouse for the steam options. Then go to settings. Go to "IN-GAME" and check the box for "ENABLE THE STEAM OVERLAY WHILE IN-GAME". THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF ANY AND ALL PROBLEMS YOUR CONTROLER IS FACING. also with the steam overlay on you can remap your controls through the game settings to force the game to read the layout you want the controller to have. So for example if you want your buttons to act like they are pressing numbers instead of letters you can do that and if you map your controller to numbers you can still use your mouse buttons as normal for a different interaction in game. All of the controls on my xbox 360 controller are numbers with the exception being x,y,b,a. They are the same on my controller as they are on the keyboard. However you should not remap your select button (it's tab and needs to stay that way) and your start button. The guide button doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ on any game I've played so I guess that's a dead button. Please remember that there are 3 places you can set your controller settings up. 1) is through big picture settings. 2) is through "CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION" in your steam games library. This is where you remap your buttons. And the 3rd place is the game itself. 2 of the most important places to make sure your buttons are mapped are the "CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION" and the game itself. I hope this helps some people. I'd like this message to be spread among steam forums for others with this problem because so far I haven't seen a solution from anybody about this so this is a start at least.
