The simple truth is that the spike skill is an utter and complete design failure on the devs' side which seriousy devalues an otherwise fun game mode.
It's super easy to counter so I'm guessing you just haven't figured out how yet?
The time limit on it is really inconsistent. Sometimes you can go goal to goal with it; other times you grab it, move 2 feet and spikes vanish. It's really, *really* annoying. And I don't mean after grabbing it, regardless of how long you've had them deployed. The actual timer shows different times every freaking time I deploy it.
Freeze also counters spikes just to clarify
