Help using split screen!
If I'm reading this correctly, that this game doesn't official support keyboard/xbox controller for split screen? I would like to play this with my kids but I don't like using controllers. I also see others getting it to work but its not support, confusing.

"How do I Play in Split-Screen?

If you would like to play Split-Screen with your friends, please follow the instructions that correspond to your platform:
Steam
On PC, in order to play Split-Screen you need two controllers.

Note: Keyboard/Mouse + controller is not officially supported.

Once all the controllers are connected, launch the game. While in the Main Menu, Player 2 needs to press the Options (DS4)/Menu (XB1/X360)/Start (Steam Controller) button. Player 2 will then join the party and you can play any Offline or Online mode together."

"Enabling Rocket League's Split Screen Co-Op: It is Simpler Than You Think

First, you must note that the procedure to play in split screen mode varies if both players are using controllers, or if one one player is using a keyboard while the other is using a controller.

First, we will first go through a scenario where each player is using a controller. This configuration consists of two easy steps:

Start the game with all controllers connected;
on the title screen, the main player must press a button to continue to the main menu. As soon as the main player arrives on the menu screen, all other players must press “START” on their controllers. This enables split screen co-op.

Now, if one player is using a keyboard and the other player is using a controller, the procedure is a bit different, but still very simple:

On the title screen, plug and unplug the second controller until the light on the controller shifts to “Player 2;"
In the menu, the second player must press “START," in order to enable the split-screen mode."

For all-controller play, Player 1 goes to the main menu, Players 2-4 hit Start on their controllers then Player 1 chooses Local Game like it says above.

Keyboard and controller play can be done but it's a bit more complicated. These instructions are for Big Picture mode with a Steam controller because that's my set-up, but desktop mode or an Xbox (or PS4) controller shouldn't be much different:

1. Go to Rocket League's page in the Library.
2. Highlight Manage Game > Controller Configuration then Select (A).
3. Controller layout appears. Choose Browse Configs (X).
4. Highlight Templates > Gamepad then Import Config (A).
5. The preview page appears. Choose Select (X).
6. Highlight Manage Game > Controller Options then Select (A).
7. Set Steam Input Per-Game Setting to Forced Off then OK.

Steps 1-7 only need to be done once.

8. On RL's page in the library, go to Your Game > Play. Once at the main menu bring up the Steam overlay (Shift-Tab on the keyboard or the Steam button on the controller).
9. Highlight Controller Options then Select (A).
10. Choose Re-arrange Controller Order.
11. Put Steam Controller in Player 2's slot (and any further controllers in Player 3 and 4's slot if you've got them) then OK followed by OK again. Keep Player 1's slot empty.
12. Highlight Return to Game then Select (A).
13. Back in the main menu, hit Start on the Controller(s) and you'll see the split-screen icon appear in the bottom left next to your Steam ID.
14. Now choose Local Game and set the game up.

Steps 8-14 need to be done every time you start up RL.

I guess this should work for other games like Portal 2 as well, although I haven't tried it.

Hope it helps, I was messing round for an hour trying to work it out and I couldn't find a proper guide on the net. Disconnecting and connecting the controller didn't work for me.

I tried this and everything worked except I can't find the option to re-arrange controller order

Remember to use Big Picture Mode. The option to re-arrange controller is only visible in the steam overlay when using Big Picture Mode.
Does anyone know the steps to the advanced version of setting up Rocket League for multiplayer split screen gameplay? Here are tutorial links for dual monitor split screen setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkXirl3CznY
https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/7wskh6/splitscreen_on_two_monitors_working_guide_as_of/

_here are the guidelines :

Note: If your using two monitors with different default resolutions, you'll want to set in-game graphics resolution to the lower of the two monitors for that first step. If both monitors are capable of displaying the same resolution set them the same then you need not worry unless you encounter an increase in fps in which case lower the resolution again and start over the process.

~ run a 1st time rocketleague on one monitor, go into Options/Video adjust/apply resolution and quality accordingly, keep it fullscreen (be sure that splitscreen layout is Vertical) and exit the game

~ in Windows settings "System_Display "only have the 2 monitors connected (disconnect the other(s))

~ in Windows settings "System_Display " set both screens to display the same resolution (lowest common resolution of the two monitors)

~ in Windows settings "System_Display " (very top) in the monitor alignment schema : Align both screens so that primary monitor(1) is on the left side of the schema exI 1 I-I 2 I.
Click and drag the monitors to rearrange them as needed.

~ in FileExplorer open the Documents folder, go to "My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\Config" folder and open "TASystemSettings.ini"

Note: Ctrl+F is the hotkey function for finding specific context within the file your editing.

~ search from top "Fullscreen" change it to False
i.e- input Ctrl+F type Fullscreen and checkbox the down bubble then press Enter, edit line Fullscreen by erasing True and typing instead False and continue steps.

~ search from top "ResX" (whole word) change it to double your monitor width resolution (ex. if 1920 => put 3840). Input Ctrl+F search "ResX" check down bubble Enter and edit line by retyping the doubled resolution according to your display settings.

~ search from top "Borderless" change it to True

~ save(Ctrl+S) and exit

~back to file explorer window and right click on TASystemSettings.ini, select Properties and check "Read only" checkbox apply and exit properties window

~ Start Rocket League from your primary monitor (the left one). Ensure the Rocket League icon on your desktop is located on the primary monitor screen when starting the game or launch from steam. Note it does not matter how you have your monitors setup physically infront of the players so long as your primary monitor (1) is seen by windows display settings as being on the left side of that monitor schema.

I Hope this information helps those of you with friends too cheap to own a pc and/or copy of rocket league. Remoteplay is also handy if your friend owns a pc and steam account but not the game itself. This guideline is proven to work by myself 09/26/2020 even after RL switched to Epic Games. HF&GL!
