PS4 Controller not working in RL

Hi all,

I recently got back into playing Rocket League, and been having a blast (of course, how could I not?). The only thing that's been really annoying is that my DS4 is just NOT working unless I use the DS4Windows application, whereas it works on literally every other game on Steam.

Also, ever since I had to download DS4Windows, my DS4 can't seem to reconnect when I restart my PC. It'll turn on and my Bluetooth says that it's connected but it won't actually connect and show the solid Blue/Pink light (I use Blue for DS4Windows, Pink for Steam). The only way I can fix it is by disconnecting and reconnecting the controller from Bluetooth. I don't really understand what the issue is.

In Rocket league, you can check that it's using the PS4 profile,
Select that from the menu - under the settings -
or go to Steam Big Picture, and set it up there.

I have a nacon ps4 controller, and it functions fully as a xbox layout,
It works, so I don't care what icons it shows for buttons.

I'll check this out. I don't care about the buttons either, but it's annoying that it's working with all other games, but it's not working for RL. Will update if it works.

Neither solution worked. The only thing that works for me is turning on DS4Windows, then restarting Rocket League.

My solutions for rocket league and my controller have also existed, never before with my wireless logitech controller.

I usually need to restart steam, sometimes the computer,

Sometimes I close steam, unplug controller, - plug it back in - fresh - and let steam open after that;

I've always had to use an immulator when useing a PS3/4 controller in RL. So that's the norm to me.

I literally just plug in and play with a ds4, is your windows up to date? maybe try with the 'support ps4 controller congif' button unchecked and then try again with it checked till it works

I usually do as well. My controller is set up with Bluetooth, and before trying to play RL, I haven't had a single issue with it. It works perfectly with Monster Hunter World, Divinity 2, FFXIV, Dead Cells, and every other game I've tried.

Rocket League is the only one that's been causing me problems and I have to use DS4Windows to make it work. Ever since installing DS4Windows, my controller doesn't connect properly to my PC and I have to disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth to make it work.

Check your steam properties of Rocket league, Change "Steam input per-game setting" to "forced off". If it is on or auto, the cotroller will use the steam's controller settings from big picture for any ps4/xbox controller

Might be a bluetooth thing if you plug your ps4 controller with the micro usb wire it should work just fine. At least it does for me I don’t have/use bluetooth on my pc so idk.

Have you set up your controller in the controller settings OF big picture mode?
Do that, then put the forced options off, try again.
Settings must be with the game closed. Not running in the b/g

Yup, it's set up through BP mode. Playstation configuration support enabled, I've gone through and selected profiles (if necessary - I just use the default one 90% of the time).

Maybe I should find a Rocket League-specific profile and it will work? I had an issue with Sekiro where it was trying to use the DS4 gyro as a mouse so I got a profile that fixed that.

As I said, this is the only game on Steam that causes me problems, everything else works just fine with the DS4 settings. I've never tried modifying the settings with the game open.

just connect the gamepad via cable.. its working fine
