Air Roll/Air Steer Issue
My aerial game is weak, just being brutally honest. I've been working on the training modes and free play to get some mechanics down but I'm having an issue with steering my vehicle. I'm using an xbox controller and have no problem with air pitch. With air steering and air roll I have steering set to left analog stick (left-right movement) and left/right air roll set to LB, RB respectively. The problem is, while in air, I try using the left analog stick to steer yet it's rolling my car. It's like both the LB/RB and left analog are rolling my although only LB/RB are set to roll. I have a decent amount of gameplay on RL but this is baffling me and I can't seem to turn my car while in air, simply just roll it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: While using keyboard and mouse gameplay, A and D are set for air steer and work as they should.

is it possible you are accidentally gripping the controller too hard and accidentally pressing air roll?

I've just been trying simple maneuvers and it's still occuring. RT is my gas, I get rolling, hit A to jump, use the left analog to pitch upwards, X to boost a bit, but the second I use the left analog to turn my car just rolls the way the stick is pointed. It seems to occur mostly while using boost, perhaps I'm just inexperienced with these and it's normal.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying, but Air Roll creates a spiral movement. While held down, the analogue steering still works but it doesn't actually steer. In a way, Air Roll locks your trajectory but additional analogue stick adds a wild swing to it (which you can use to smack the ball with intent, or simply to widen your strike area).

So, I have adopted a similar binding with a controller but I'm not having this problem -- however, when I set this up, I also deleted the controller binding for the air roll button. Have you done the same?

One possibility. echoing rogue above: i have a bad habit of holding down RT (forward) almost all the time -- even when I'm in the air. If, somehow, you have bound this button to air roll and hold this button down when flying, then LT and RT have no effect, and steering left and right will cause you air roll rather than turn.

Thank you for the response, I'll definitely give this a check.

In controls there are settings for Air Roll Left, Air Roll Right, and just Air Roll. Previously, my plain air roll present was assigned to X which is also my assigned boost button. I disabled the plain Air Roll preset and now have free LR movement. I guess while using boost in the air, I was effectively rolling instead of turning since there was an overlap in the controls. Things just got much freaking easier. Thanks for the help above.

my air roll and power slide are mapped to my L3 so i can boost while having full control

I know this is super late but i know exactly what you were talking about. The car would do a roll instead of turn in middair, what i did what i set my air steer left/right to left stick down, then go to free play and drive for a second. Then I changed my air steer back to what it should be, and now my car turns in middair instead of rolls
