Did they remove old Rocket league songs from this game?
I can't find songs like Flying Forever from the original release of this game? I played since the early days and those songs are nostalgic for me, when I reinstalled I checked all the playlists but couldn't find it? were they removed?

Yes, few months ago some were removed and some moved;

Psyonix comment on RL Subreddit with statement :

Hey Everyone,

I thought I'd jump in here to chat about this, since I was the original artist for almost all of the old songs on OST 1 and OST 2.

These were removed for a number of reasons, but boiling it down, largely at the time of ship, they were never intended to survive as long as the game has survived. Many of you have called out that it could be a "licensing issue' and that is mostly correct, however it is quite a bit more complicated than that.

There is a lot of legacy tied up on the behind the scenes of these songs and through the many changes that Rocket League and Psyonix have seen, it's been hard to keep them live.

However, we have kept a majority of favorite songs that are being referenced in the thread:

* Seeing What's Next
* Seeing What's Next (Kev Frey Remix)
* Breathing Underwater (Ether Remix)
* Firework
* Solar Eclipses
* Firework (Melad Remix)
* Spell (Sando Remix)
* Don't Stop the Party

These songs were moved out of the OST 1 & 2 playlists and into the Unreleased Tracks playlist about 3 months ago.

I don't see many (if any) references to songs that we didn't keep in the game, which is what I was hoping to achieve. To sunset the songs that were less desired and difficult to keep in the game, and keep the favorites alive.

I do appreciate a lot of the love for these old songs as they are mine and my friend's creations. It means a lot that you have cared about them over the 7 years they have been in game.

Also they're staying as Anthems :

Correct! This was a new intended use introduced in 2020, they will be able to stay as Anthems, no problem.

+ Tracks will be still available on Spotify and other sites :

They will still be available on those sites, yes.

Yeah its unfortunate. I liked the songs in the OST the best and they took them all out. I'd turn off all the rest and listen to only those if I could. Oh well, things change. I'm sure its a money thing. Perhaps the songs were licensed only to Psyonix and once Rocket League was purchased by Epic those licenses had to be renegotiated. Its cheaper to just get Spotify to give them free or low cost music I guess.

Sorry John but let me catch for words as it seems you didn't read what I quoted and if you exaggerated little bit or if I'm wrong :

Mostly correct about licensing issue but as it's mentioned in quote from my 1st comment above :

I accept their decision and partly understand reasons.
Not trying defending them just want make some parts more clear and I'm open to discussion if I'm wrong or misunderstood something.

What were the "best" ones that were removed? I'm curious if any of the ones I liked have gone.

Precisely. Psyonix owes quite a bit to the original OST and Mike Ault for hyping up the game as much as it did. Yet even with the fat check Epic wrote them to buy the damn game they still dropped most of the music. Keeping mostly remixes and like 4 of the original songs. Just like they dropped their original fanbase ha. No respect for legacy players.

how is it that I can use Flying forever as a player anthem if its not in the game anymore?
is that licensing different?

also while I'm asking these legacy questions in this thread, when I restarted playing in 2021 I noticed that I had all the old DLC cars unlocked. Is that the same for everyone or is it just the people who bought the game before it became free to play? The only ones I'm missing are the franchise ones like Fast N Furious (I bought Ice charger, wish I got the Skyline instead D:) and stuff like Batman.

I don't know. As I was trying make clear in my both comments - it was not only licensing issue according them.

People who played Online before free to play update got all Rocket League Branded DLCs (new players can unlock some or all of them eventually with completing New Driver Challenges) - not 3rd party Licensed like Nissan, Batmobile,etc.

You can find the OST on YouTube I'm sure if you want to know all of the songs.

My favorite song in the OST was We Speak Chinese. Its still available as a player anthem but it isn't in the music playlist anymore. I like every song on the OST though. I can't say the same for the music tracks they added in any other season. All of them had songs that I didn't want to hear.

And, that's not all.. But I guess, that's tied to the removal of Rocket League from Steam, right?
I mean, although I have purchased the OST from Steam years ago, the entire Rocket League soundtrack has disappeared from the Steam library.

What I mean to say, if the game is no longer on Steam, then the soundtrack is no longer on Steam aswell, aye?

That's a mess, one hella big mess, mostly sucks for the legacy players like me, who have paid and got what they've paid for snatched in front of their eyes..
Oh, well, that's just the way digital World works, isn't it?
You do never „own“ stuff.. Such a shame that ordering physical copies is sometimes simply impossible nowadays..

Or, am I missing something?

there's some digital distributors that allow you to keep the product in perpetuity but advertising is obviously banned on steam so I can't say who they are, but I agree that its an issue with steam. At least they didn't force us to make epic games account to keep playing.

Steam does not remove purchased things from your library. Unless you specifically put in a ticket to have it removed.

I have tons of games that left Steam years ago and I still have them. Mass Effect and a few other EA games being an example.

Thanks.

So sad that there are no longer some historical tracks

"We speak Chinese" for me is an iconic Rocket League track. Flying forever is one of the nicest songs in it's history as well, was always uplifted when that track came on. I'd often sit there and let it pay through.

Can you still listen to all of the songs? I am mainly interested in the Rocket League Theme song.
